Coming off an 89-loss season, the Astros, as they have done just about every season since Minute Maid Park opened in 2000, will raise ticket prices slightly again next season. The Astros try to adjust the market each year and raise prices a little instead of a large increase, but the price increases since 2000 are high. Dugout Boxes, which were $48 last season, will be $50 next year. View Deck II, which is the extreme upper deck down the right- and left-field lines, has gone up $2 to $12 per ticket. (This, of course, doesn't include the Yankees and Red Sox). These price increases are marginal, but when you compare them to the prices when the ballpark opened in 2000 it's pretty staggering. Dugout Boxes, which are on the lower level behind home plate and above the dugout, have gone from $29 per ticket in 2000 to $50 next year. Field Boxes have gone from $25 to to $39, and the Crawford Boxes have doubled from $17 to $34 per ticket. You can still get into the outfield deck for $7, which remains a bargain if you bring binoculars. Those tickets were $5 in 2000. The most expensive tickets are the Club I level, which are now $52. Those were $28 in 2000. All of the ticket prices are much higher when the Yankees and Red Sox come to town next year, with the Dugout Boxes going for $75 instead of $50. But not to worry, Astros fans. You will come. And that's why Drayton McLane has raised prices. You will show up like you have the last few years and help the Astros reach 3 million fans yet again. Or will you? How many of you can't afford to go to Astros games anymore? How many will find a way to get there no matter what? http://blogs.chron.com/gamedayastros/2007/11/astros_ticket_prices_have_soar.html
Eh well, usually when I go I get the view deck or outfield deck tickets...those really aren't that bad...and then I can still afford my ballpark dog. Though it does suck that he keeps raising prices every season, especially after a season in which they vastly underachieve, in all levels of the organization.
What I think is absolute garbage is that the Red Sox and Yankees games are much more expensive. It is a blatant deliberate attempt to squeeze the fans. Those games are REGULAR SEASON baseball games. I know the post season is more expensive, but there is no reason why the Astros should raise prices for those games. Bad form in my opinion. The Texans didnt raise prices after the 2-14 season.
I worked with the Astros season ticket department last season during the summer and it was amazing to me how we continued to move tickets...we kept getting worse and worse as a team but the fans kept buying tickets But really the astros have a good system setup...the reason they get so many fans is because they bring in alot of group sales...Really group sales and renewed season tickets holders carried the astros season ticket department last season...when i was there, rarely did we sell any new season ticket plans...except the small flex plans(7 games)...we sold alot of those during the biggio chase....ok..ill get off my soapbox
only reason i go to astros games is because its cheap i hate baseball but its a great atmosphere to just kill a few hours at
well baseball tickets should be cheaper because there is 162 freaking games. NFL tickets are dam cheap considering how few games there are. Rockets tickets are like this, if your in the upper bowl it's a much better value than a baseball game because of how much closer you are than the upper levels at a baseball game same goes for the lower bowl behind the goals now of course if your in the "club" section of the TC forget about it, crazy prices.
I just can't understand people hating baseball. It's the greatest game in the history of mankind, hands down. (That's my opinion, and I'm stickin' to it!)
I agree but unless you love it your going to think it's boring. Hell I played with guys growing up who will not watch it.
