Right-handed reliever, 32, formerly of the Brewers. One year, 2M, with an 2014 option (and 150K buyout). http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/astros-to-sign-jose-veras.html
ERA in the mid-high 3's the last few years. Poor WHIP last year but pretty good the 2 years before that. Throws 93-94 MPH, has a pretty good K rate. Don't really know much about him but looks like a decent pickup.

Veras has bounced around a bit. The Astros will be the 6th different team he's played for since 2009 and the 4th team he'll be on in 4 seasons. He's been a pretty steady 7th-8th inning guy the past few years.
The Veras deal is now official; here is the corresponding move: Brandon Laird outrighted off the 40-man roster <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Astros">#Astros</a>' Brandon Laird, Che-Hsuan Lin cleared waivers. Outrighted to Triple-A OKC. Houston's <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23MLB">#MLB</a> roster at 40.</p>— Brian T.
