Reported by David Delade (sp) of Sports Radio 610. It is reported to be a 2 year deal with 1 year option. Jeff Kent is 34.

I've heard that David Delade (sp?) is simple-minded, moronic and naive. :)

Wow. If Jeff Kent can put up the same numbers we just got a whole lot better.

But how did this happen. One minute we are cheaper than all get out and the next we are forking over the biggest contract ever.

Great news signing Jeff Kent. I wonder how much of his production this past year came as a result of hitting in front of Barry, though. I guess if he's batting in front of Lance he could put up similar numbers. This helps to address our utter lack of hitting in all playoff situations to date. Let's just keep the pitching staff healthy all year and have a solid bullpen and we're good to go.

Congrats on signing Kent. He is a great second basemen. However I would not expect to see the same numbers he had in SF, theres a little matter of not having Bonds around.

But good pick up, tough to find good offensive 2B.

    OH THANK GOD!!!

I'm a pessimist though and I wonder what may go wrong or what we will lose to make this deal work. For now though, I am slap dappity happy.

We got Jeff Kent, we got Jeff Kent, we got Jeff Kent!!!!!!!!

Hell, if he could just hit 20 homers, things will work out just fine. Damn, now all we need is some stability in the bullpen. Hey, wouldn't it be cool if out of no where, we get Maddux to give us another good pitcher in the starting rotation?

    OK, i'm over doing it.

We got Jeff Kent, we got Jeff Kent, we got Jeff Kent!!!:D

I hope we're not done dealing.

Maybe we're dumping Hidalgo to someone to free up the salary for Kent? That would be fine with me ...

p.s. Carlos Hernandez is too much for Jay Payton. I'm fine with trading Redding, though.

well not sure about where Kent will play but management has supposedly talked to Biggio and he is ok with adding Kent to the mix.

He's obviously bought into all of that cheap s.o.b. Drayton's posturing.

You mean we actually signed a big named FA that will help the club?

    YIPPEEE !!!

I am not worried about pitching...we have good young arms that are only going to get better.

Great, another mid 30 veteran who brings offense....

We need some friggin pitchers! Our 3-5 in the rotation are average at best, and we desperately need some lefties in the bullpen.
