I wonder who goes off the 40-man to make room. I guess they could move Randolph to the 60 day DL. I'd rather they just part ways with Palmiero.

It'll be cool to see what Ransom can do. He has been tearing it up at RR.

Pit them against each other, of course. Personally, I'm pulling for Munson. I hope Ausmus stays one more year solely as Oswalt's personal catcher.

I would have like to seen them callup Tim Raines Jr. and Mark Saccomanno cut guys who almost certainly won't be here next year like Palmerio, Moehler, Borkowski, and Miller.

I'm still frustrated that he was an Astro in 2007.

The Astros are a southeast Texas institution. If Jason Lane wants to spend more of his career with a native southeast Texas institution, I've got one for him:

The Lane deal reminds me of the movie Rudy. Garner promised to bring him back up so, Lane has been wondering if Cooper will remember the deal.

Are the Astros mathematically out of the NL Central race? If a miracle happens and they lose a few games (4-6games) the rest of the way and the other teams do horrible, could they still challenge for the NL Central crown?

Mathematically? No. Do they have a realistic chance? Not really. Just not consistent enough to make up enough ground. A 3 game winning streak will be followed up by a 4 game losing streak. Too many things have to happed in their favor in a season that's been nothing but the opposite. It would take a run much more amazing than the ones of the previous 3 years. I just don't think they're capable of it.

Have they said who was invited to the Arizona Fall league yet? Someone told me Towles was going to be there.

If lane plays one inning over Pence I think I would be done with the Asstros.

I'm still waiting for Burke to earn his job, not just have it handed to him. It seems like we've been hearing he just has to play everyday to get into a groove. Nobody handed Pence his job on a silver platter. I'd like to see Towles step up and earn his job, keeping Ausmus around for one more year only as a mentor and catching only once a week. I really don't think it matters who catches Oswalt, he knows what he's doing and is going to throw what he wants to. It's the younger guys that can benefit more from Ausmus on and off the field.

Jason Lane would not be in the Astros system if he was a black ballplayer. Hopefully the Cecil Cooper move will give Uncle Draytie a new perspective on finding some fast and athletic young black talent for the minors. Would have been nice to have signed hometown bad boy Carl Crawford back when. Signed- White Boy in Midtown

a little off topic, but is Sampson gonna start again, or is he just gonna come out of the bullpen?

The latter. They don't want to risk overworking him.
