As I live abroad, I was curious as to the press coverage (local, national, and late night jokes) subsequent to the stros getting swept.

I was able to catch a few games, so I understand that Houston put up a good fight - though they unfortunately couldn't push through.

IMO, if they would have one game 2 - it probably would have been a different series.

Nevertheless, has there been much talk about a flop?

Nobody stopped complaining about the roof being open long enough to worry about insignificant details like who won the series...

Even though the Astros were in it, this was the most quiet World Series I remember ever. For me, the Rockets were a huge distraction but it just seemed overall, it came and went in no time. Very anti-climatic and very disappointing. Definitely wasn't the thrill I expected after RoyO put down the Cards.

Maybe if the Astros could have won a game...it may have been more exciting. Noone wants to tune into a lopsided(in the win-loss column) World Series. It doesn't help that Houston isn't exactly the favorites of baseball throughout the nation even with the former Yankee pitchers. While we were in every game, I still couldn't shake the feeling that, while we were being competitive, that we were going to lose the game...especially after how the first two games went. Once Oswalt had that terrible fifth inning in Game 3, that was depressing. Who would have thought Backe would pitch no-run baseball in Game 4 only for us to lose again? Whatever we did...it wasn't enough and that feeling was there throughout the series.

That is a World Series that is easily forgotten if your an Astros fan. All one can say is at least we got there and were the best in the NL. The coverage I saw basically had two views...the Sox were dominant and dominated us. Or, the Sox were dominant but didn't dominate us. I guess a sweep is considered dominant by some but the fact that the games were so close wasn't exactly dominant.

I had heard that game 1 was almost on. By the time I turned on my TV, the series was over.

    Damned roof  ;) :)
