After watching the first game of the season it looks like the Astros are going to score alot of runs this year. But starting pitching is is questionable. I think if the Astros can get them a 3 third starter who could get us 15 wins or so then the Astros are going to make some noise this year. Pedro Astacio would be a good fit, but he wanted to much money. Oswalt and Miller are both going to get us around 20 wins if they stay healthy. If we get us a third pitcher this is going to be a real good team.

Pedro Astacio is on the disabled list. He was also terrible after the all star break last year (4-8, 7.00 ERA).

Hopefully, the bullpen sucked last night because they had a big lead to work with...

Cool I was thinking of getting a console Baseball game but wanted to make sure he was included on whichever one I get. My choices were really down to ASB and WSB. I will probably rent both and see which one I like best. How do you like ASB?

I like it OK. I just jumped in and started a franchise, so I'm not very good...currently 0-3. The controls and everything are pretty easy, and I haven't discovered the one pitch that always gets batters out like I've seen on all other baseball games I've played.

If you like drafting your own team, this isn't the game. You can do it, but the computer's r****ded and you can end up getting all the good players. No fun. The trading is fun and not totally unrealistic though.

I would say that Bruce Chen sucked last night. Ricky Stone and Dotel pitched 1.2 innings and gave up no runs. I think Chen will turn out to be good...but it's kind of tough to come in and face Todd Helton, Larry Walker and Preston Wilson in a row.

Isn't the lefty on the roster to out others' lefty swingers?

Sure he is, but that doesn't mean the job is easy when the lefties he is facing are damn good hitters. It was one outing. Also, mention, if you were able to watch the game, maybe you noticed that the pitch that Helton hit was a damn good one. It was low and outside...he just went out and got it. Certainly I don't think that Chen is going to be a lights out reliever, but I think he is definiitely better than he was last night. And based on what I saw of how he pitches, I think he will be very capable of getting ou lefties.

I certainly hope you're right. First impressions are interesting, tho, so just look at last night's Box and see all the excitement generated. Tomorrow is when they'll likely need fireworks as the kid lefty is starting, but is he ready? I don't know. He's cheap, tho, unlike Shane. Can he pitch? We'll start to find out, I guess.

I am probably one of the few confident that Redding will be a big story for this team. More confident than I am of Moeller or Robertson, but I hope they convert me quick!

After Oswalt and Miller, we need to pray they suck it up...

I know we can generate a number of runs to outpace the bad pitching, but how long can we sustain that consistently...

I have to say that I am still waiting to see if Wade Miller will be as consistent as advertised. I remember him starting 2 years ago and having like 12 strikeouts in his first two starts, then slowly becoming mediocre over time. Then, last season after that pinched nerve injury, he goes 12-2. Which Wade Miller will be around this season? The guy obviously has talent, and hopefully he will win at least 16 games this season.

As far as Moehler, well, my gut instinct is that he will get ROCKED in his first couple of starts, then settle down and maybe be a 12 game winner, which isn't too bad from the number 3 guy.

Redding, well, who knows. We all know what kind of stuff he has...hopefully he can keep himself in check and fulfill his potential. As long as he doesn't try to strike everyone out, he should be ok.

Robertson....I haven't seen him pitch yet, so I can't say what my early asessment is. I am looking forward to seeing how he does agains that Cardinals this weekend.

Oh yeah....Oswalt. What can you say? Last night, he wasn't getting calls like Jennings was. It was ridiculous. But, he got through it and gave up one earned run to the ROCKIES. I'd say that's not too bad. I know his strikeout numbers were...well...not quite there.... but I bet they will come around.

As for the bully - Chen may not be that good, but he's not THAT bad...and Stone gave up one hit.....which also isn't too bad. And I don't think that people realize how good Brad Lidge can be if he stays healthy (and for him, that's a BIG if).

By the way, Castro....ASB 2003 is THE baseball game if you are looking for sim-type baseball. If you own an X-box....you HAVE to get that game.

Oops...I meant Castor....sorry.....and I also meant ASB 2004. Any baseball game that has music from "the Natural" is a must-have.

No prob. on the name thing, I get that all the time. As for ASB I am going to rent both ASB and WSB to see which one I like best. That is cool info on the music. I did not know that.

He pitched well for me last night against the Cards, 6.3 IP, 2 ER. Had the win until blasted Ricky Stone screwed it all up.
