Not sure why it's a problem. it's low? Do you feel bad about yourself now? I guess I don't see the downside. Maybe it cheapens the team a bit...but we all know they're not performing well (in fact they're performing terribly), and they're selling tickets at an all-time low level. Not sure you can cheapen them anymore than they actually are at this point.
I'm guessing (not really sure) that his problem with it is the medium - personal twitter accounts. The fun part of these personal twitter accounts is a direct link to the players and their own thoughts, rather than something that is "Astros approved". If they just become another arm for Astros corporate marketing to send out promotional messages, the twitter accounts lose their authenticity. Whether that will happen, who knows. But it seems pretty clear that the players were told what to tweet out here.
Too many players for management to not have been behind this. The players have been making tweets encouraging the fans out for a while. I like the players asking fans to support them, but dont care for it coming from above.
It is just weird seeing it on their Twitter accounts instead of the Astros account. I would love to see an authentic cry from the players to come out to the ballpark. This just seems lame.
I agree with this 100%.. but as long as it was optional for the player to post this on their twitter I am fine with it. Otherwise, yeah, seems cheap.
so bummed. I thought you were going to say the Astros really *did* get a new marketing department. Because, theirs is *horrible*.

Smallest crowd ever in MMP last night. The new Marketing Team just can't overcome the losses on the field. Only two more home stands left for the Astros that I grew up loving. That should be this this year's marketing strategy...Come out to root for the Astros while they still play baseball.
I don't see the big deal but I'm guessing it's not very effective..... I'm guessing if you're Dallas Keuchel and Jordan Lyles on twitter that you are a pretty die hard fan and are going to games and following the team pretty closely... The Astros are at rock bottom no need to worry things can't get any worse.
