Buying Fanatics boxes is better than buying at Walmart. It depends how honest if you local card shop because back then there was a shop in Houston (late 1990s) where when the pull a case hit, they would sell the remaining boxes. I never hit any good stuff out of many boxes that I opened. Instead of hair cut and cards, it was hair cuts only until they shutter in early 2000.

Speaking of group breaks, avoid buying into 2024 Topps Jumbo, or Hobby- most breaks I've seen just show the colors, autographs, or inserts, very few breaks, or any breakers will show those Golden Mirrors SSPs, or the variations. And avoid 2023 Topps Five Stars, I've seen at least 50 case breaks luckily I only joined 1 and got skunked. I observed that the Astros don't hit much, I've not seen N.Ryan, or Altuve. Very rarely do Bagwell come out, most likely J.Pena, but you can get last year's Pena Rookie Year cheap.

In my case I walked in to my local card shop. I don't know him but I've talked to the owner a few times and he appears to be a good guy and has great Google reviews.

He told me he only had 1 hobby box left for $105.

I decided to pay $90 on Fanatics and accept the free shipping. It ended up being $103 after tax and $4.99 "handling"

I still ended up saving $10 because sales tax here in Washing t on is through the roof ( I think it's 8.5%?) But it wasn't worth the 1 week wait to get it or the "not helping the local business stay in business part"

Fanatics that I know, you can get points for purchases. You should try Fanatics 2024 Topps Series 1 Blaster box, you get the chance of hitting a autograph baseball and they have the blaster parallel, but I think they are sold-out on their website. The only card shop I go to is Houston Connections on Westheimer, but I live too far from work and even farther from home so I haven't been in ages. Don't overbuy, but don't stop, if you stop buying random boxes you may never hit cards you can flip. I once hit a Luka Doncic Prizm Green Pulsar Rookie #/25 buying 1 blaster box, for the rest of the year I didn't buy Prizm BKB and I still have the card that used to be my avatar on here. My best Houston pull was Hakeem, Drexler and Yao Triple Immaculate Autograph. One of biggest regret ever, selling it for a good amount and never finding it again unless for 3x what I sold it for. Learned lessons hard.

Joey Loperfido- He doesn't have a MLB license card :) Around 2 years ago maybe more, I was selling Jake Meyers Sugar Land Skeeter cards for $15, paid a team set for $1 at their website. Meyers didn't have a MLB license card before he was called up.

Speaking of game-used, last month, or 1 1/2 months ago, Fanatics was selling a Game-Worn 2nd Year Jalen Green Nike Shoes for $999. It was up there for at least 5 days before it was snatched. If it was a rookie shoes, I would of snatched it, or a rare colored shoes. And I'm not too fond of Green because I feel he plays too nice and doesn't have the fire to drive, too streaky and this separates him being a starter to All-Star.

According to Stryker's spreadsheet, the fanatics and the mega boxes are the best buys right now. I haven't been able to get my hands on any mega boxes.

I wasn't happy with the jumbos and hobby boxes this series. I've made almost of my money back on what I've spent so far selling the hits that I did get.

I've been mainly getting my Altuve cards on eBay. I've notice everyone that I have purchased from live several states away. NY, California, Wisconsin and etc. I'm curious if these cases are designed to ship out like that for a reason.

Unopened 1980 Hockey Case ( 16 boxes ) just sold for 3.7M last week. It was 20 Cents a pack. That was in our lifetime.

Without doing any research I suspect that is "The Great One's" rookie year.
I saw the total was Canadian dollars. Take 25 cents off of every dollar. Only 2,775,000 in real money. Its a bargain.

When money is involved, shady stuff happens. The sealed wrapping by Baseball Connection had many years experience even PSA supported the business until.....

I collected cards until I was around 10 years old but stopped around that same age. But I was VERY serious about it at the time and I never got rid of any of them. I still have everything locked in a footlocker. There's some good stuff in there, like really good, but I haven't looked at any of it in decades. I don't even know if it's even still intact anymore, but there are some things in there that go back more than a hundred years. Most are from the 70s, but some are early 1900s. A kid down the street used to sell me stuff that I guess he must have gotten from his dad maybe. Mantle. Koufax. Things from the 50s. I'll have to look through it again one day. Most of it is probably junk, but I know for sure some of it is definitely not!

You lucked out on not paying 1k for those Green shoes. They are really going to depreciate in value. They're also pretty available if you're looking. He gives them away a lot. You could probably find a pair for around $500. You could also go to a game and buy courtside tickets next to the Rockets bench and ask him. Be a cool experience and he'd most likely give them to you if he didn't need them (meaning they're a new pair).

    Hope that helps.

    It's strange.
I have 5 Altuve autographed cards, and every time I look at them, I swear it's Yuli Gurriel's signature.

I'm currently buying any game used jerseys or bats for Altuve. I have a pretty significant collection already but always on the look out for more. Rest assured they will be going into my private collection. I really want his debut jersey on the off chance someone out there has it.

Just pulled these two out of three hangers from target today. Went by to grab a few and some Star Wars legos for my son after his little league game.

Crazy being in Houston and getting both of these out of 3 hangers in Houston of all places.
