not vehemently opposed to it, it's just that the timing is so senseless. just like kubiak's extension.
I think it's important to build some longevity here. Give the guy a decent chance to succeed...two years considering the state this ballclub was/is in is not enough time.
If Wade can somehow build what he built in Phili then this will be all worth it. I think he needs another 2 years or so to get this team back on track..
So the Astros still aren't close to being sold yet. Meh, never wanted Wade, but this team has too many problems that no GM could fix by now.
This. It takes more than a couple years to rebuild a farm system. He at least seems headed in the right direction.
I guess I don't have a problem with this. I haven't been impressed with him, but 2 years isn't enough time to judge him, especially concerning the farm system.
Wade is fine. They are working to rebuild the farm system. This is going to be a big year in that process.
What? Wade has been here for two years, and inherited a huge mess from Purpura. I honestly cannot fathom what you expect that he should realistically have been able to accomplish in this short of time.

I know some feel very confident in his abilities. I hope those people are right.
You guys need some new blood like a John Daniels type or Theo Epstein. Texas has really built something special and Boston is always good.
Whens the last time the Rangers did anything? I could be GM of Boston with that Payroll and money to sign over slot of draft picks and make Boston a good team.
A great farm system was built in Philly under his watch, and he is gradually improving the Astros system. Another 2 years under him is a good idea. We can fire him later once our farm system is rebuilt and we are ready for a guy that can make better contract and trade decisions. Kind of like in Philly.
So what role does Wade play in building the farm? Does he make the picks? Spending on the draft is in the bottom third of the league under his tenure. So how do you assign credit to the draft (and it's way too early to say that drafts under his watch have been good) vs. what credit do you give Heck and the scouts?
