Let the b****ing begin. If it's reasonable money, I think it's a good idea. Need a vet presence outside of Wandy in the rotation. Plus, at 29, it's quite possibly he's figured out what he needs to do to be successful. He's always had the talent and the stuff, he's just needed some consistency and it seems like he's got it. If it is reasonable money, he's also a tradeable asset in the future.
Depends on the money here. In general, though, signing someone in the midst of a career year is a fairly dangerous move.
Myers was going to break the bank this off season. The free agent pitching market is terrible this year. I will be stunned if he's getting less than $9 million a year.
I'm not opposed to it, but like with most deals, whether it's good or not will depend on how much he's getting and if this year was a fluke or not.
Not against it especially if it's reasonable. Even without his career year, he's basically Jon Garland (minus the 200 IP/yr). Oy, it's going to be a rough road ahead.
Like I said in the other thread, I think it will be around 3/30 will be bemoaned by Astros fans until we approach the middle of the decade.
Like other posters have said, it will depend on the money. For the right price, it'll be worth it. What he has done this year is worthy of a new deal for him.
Uh...he's 30 years old and he's been nothing but average for his entire career, up until this season. Very risky situation, imo. Im scared its going to be something around 5 years and 45 million.
Pitchers should never sniff close to 5 year deals. I've yet to see one who was worth the money for all of it.
Hmm, I doubt it. Remember, they pulled a substantial offer to Wolf off the table at the last minute so I suspect they'll probably offer him something in the neighborhood of 3yrs/26 million.
