Few questions. I'm thinking about getting my nephews on this program. I never knew about it. They love the Astros & both play baseball. Is it just a one time fee? & if anyone has ever been involved... how is it like? Thanks http://houston.astros.mlb.com/hou/community/buddiesclub.jsp
I have done this for my sons the last three years. It is a great deal. You get 4 tickets to one Sunday game a cap, backpack, lanyard and one time discount to team store. We have had a great time, sad that this year my oldest is above age restriction. Definitely a good way to start the young ones into fans.
I'm doing it for both my girls this year. Did it for my oldest last year, and we had a blast. We signed up at the Fan Fest and we'll do it again this year.
I signed up last time I went to a game in Houston, even though I don't live anywhere near there and wouldn't be able to take full advantage. Was worth it to me for the hat & bag alone.
Definitely do it!! My first Astro buddy ('69-'70) was Joe Morgan. Got to play catch with him before a game in the Dome. Then Doug Rader for a yr ('71), and then had Cesar Cedeno for a few yrs starting in '72. The original name was the "Six Shooter club" when they were the Colt .45's. Got my son involved in it, and he loved it.
I remember getting to go out on the field at the Astrodome and listening to Bob Watson talk about hitting.
I honestly don't remember who my Astros buddy was. I should post the picture of us and see if anyone recognizes him. All I know is that it was a black guy that played in the late 70's. Does that help?
I remember being in the Astros Buddies club as a kid. All I really remember from it was being able to go down on the field and run the bases before a game. I had no idea they were still doing that program.
I had Darryl Kile. Maybe it is just a sign of me getting older but I am absolutely thrilled to know they are still doing this.
I was a proud Astros Buddy kid in the early 90s. Still have my gym bag with me to this day as well. Had no idea this program was still going
I didn't either until this thread. It hits me in the happy nostalgia place, yall all do this with your youngsters!
