Pitching Probables 9/8 Oswalt vs Franklin ***7:05pm- KNWS CH.51 9/9 Redding vs Obermueller ***7:05pm- FSSW 9/10 Robertson vs Martinez ***7:05pm- FSSW 9/11 Villone vs Sheets ***1:05pm-FSSW Big 4 game series begins tonight. It's big because this is a series the Astros should take easily. THE BIG "O" IS BACK!!! Let's hope he can remain healthy!!!
On the side note, Cubbie's behavior catches up to them. Chicago Cubs reliever Antonio Alfonseca was suspended for seven games, bullpen coach Juan Lopez was suspended for one game and outfielder Moises Alou was fined Friday for their run-in with umpire Justin Klemm earlier this week. Alfonseca appealed, and can continue to play until the appeal process is complete. Ofcourse there is a lot of whinning taking place in the Cub's management, like why 7 games? "It's too long..." Espn article about Cubs in trouble...
We would be better off if Alfonseca wasn't suspended. Dude is getting shelled this year. Go Roy and 'Stros!!!
Roy O looked great in the first! A 1 2 3 inning! Bottom of Astros lineup is up to bat. top of the 2nd inning. 3-0 Good Guys.
Oswalt with a single!! Hope he doesn't hurt himself running. EDIT: Roy retires the first 6 batters, and has 3 strike outs.
I'm sorry, but I found what Ashby just said quite funny: "Just keep that groin healthy!" Oh my, ahhhhhhh. GO O!
Man Wes Helmes with a blast. Oswalt was looking good out there too. How about Hildago with a blast. Make that 6-3.
anything less than 3/4 and the season more than likely over for the Astros.. The schedule certainly favors the Cubs at their remaining games are all vs sucky teams Astros have 6 vs St Louis as well as San Fran.. WE GOTTA win all the games vs the sorry teams from here on out, NO excuses...
All in all, a solid performance by Oswalt... He made one mistake pitch to Helms, and then started to tire a little in the 5th, which is pretty typical of a guy who had 5 weeks off and didn't really have a good re-hab assignment (simulated games are jokes... does any pitcher actually buy into the simulation of a simulated games? I don't think so). The most important thing was he was LIGHTS OUT when he was at full strength, and he'll gain that strength and confidence the next time he goes out there to pitch. I can't wait till he gets that groin surgery in the off-season so I can stop holding my breath everytime he's pitched since September of 2001.
I hear ya. Everytime he ran or stretched i would crinch hopping he would not hurt himself again. Though he looked solid today, all the way till the 5th. And talk about Lights out! Our bullpen was amazing tonight. So many strike outs. "The Houston bullpen was impressive. Stone pitched the sixth, Dan Miceli the seventh, Brad Lidge the eighth and Billy Wagner the ninth. They didn't give up a hit and combined for seven strikeouts -- two each by Stone and Miceli, and three by Lidge. The only baserunner in the final four innings came on a walk by Lidge in the eighth. "
At this time of year... any member of the big 3 is unstoppable after a day of rest (i'm talking about Lidge, Dotel and Wagner). They're so used to working... I guess that's why Jimy inserts Wagner tonight, even though it was no longer a save situation...
