I am astonished by how every announcer loves him. I'm not a Houston resident, so I always catch the visiting broadcasters. As expected, those guys are biased as ****, but they love Stevie. Everytime he hits a clutch shot they say "that's why he's the Franchise." Whenever they talk about containing him, they say '''the best you can do is give him the jumper and hope he misses. But, he rises so high, it's up to him." Even the ESPN announcers love him. As ****ty as Steve played against Miami, he and Yao were praised in the game. Mobes was the mvp, but alot of highlights neglected him. Has to infuriarate the Stevie haters . For those of you who want to trade him, one day you may get your wish. The Rockets will get whatever they want for him. The rest of the league knows he's the ****. Notice, our home game against DC; Rice and Mobes shoot the techinical shots, always. I heard Doug collins yell, at crunch time, "foul anone except Francis. There, foul him. Now, now." Also, Andre's 22 and 10 look very attractive, but he's never played for a team above .500. His Cleveland teams had better shooters than Steve's team and his LA Clippers teams were much more athletic and had more options on offense. There are only 4 guys who have averaged 20/6/6 in their first four years. One of them is Stevie.
gr8-1 you are so right about the love Francis gets outside of Houston. I also have to catch the games on League Pass and the announcers all fall over the Franchise. The 1st game of the season v. the Pacers when Francis scored 39 and everyone here hated him for doing it, Pacer anouncer Quinn Buckner was in awe. In the 3rd Q Buckner said Francis was unbelievable and could get his shot off against whatever Pacer defending him "anytime he wanted". More than half the teams in the NBA would gladly give us their PG for Francis which is one of the things that fustrates me about Houston and Rocket fans who are more than willing to let him go.
That is because the other teams announcers only watch him once or twice a year, while we are stuck watching him make boneheaded play after boneheaded play. Listen to Calvin say...STOP AND POP !!, or PASS THE BALL TO YAO !! Then you will get a real taste of what the fans are feeling. By the way, no one hates Steve, we just want him to play smarter ball. DaDakota
that's an understatement. here's who wouldn't: nets(obviously) hornets (davis is similar so it'd be pointless) clippers(they probably won't play miller so they wouldn't pay steve) kings(chemistry w/ bibby) mavericks(chemistry w/ nash) that's it. seattle would give us payton in a second since he's probably gone next year. anyways steve's on this team for a long time and we should be stoked that we're that lucky.
Realistically, I see the Hornets giving us Davis and the Clippers giving us Miller. Francis and Baron are similar, but Baron will want to bail out soon. He wasn't very happy moving to New Orleans, and would probably want to move to a bigger market club soon. Francis brings in more fans. As for the Clipper, I think they'd do it. Having a Point Forward like Odom, and a team that is losing, they'd want Francis over Miller. They lack the scoring ounch that Francis brings. No real explosion in their team. Of course, I wouldn't trade Francis for any PG in the league right now, given Francis' age vs Kidd and Payton's age.
All I want to know is, how do I become a member of M*A*S*H? That is cool, and by cool, I mean totally sweet. Seriously, Steve Francis is hard warking, athletic, and clutch. He has two drawbacks, being selfish but only sometimes, and NEVER PLAYING DEFENSE. We definitely need him, but he needs to stop letting opposing guards stroll into the lane.
Just like DD said you can only get the inside scoup from Houston press ala Feigan, Calvin Murphy, Pololo or Gene Peterson. Non Houstonians only watch highlights of the games. I doubt if anyone here (true Rockets fans) "hate" Francis; I just hate his lack of bball smarts. It is like God - he does not hate human beings but he hates the sins we commit - gettit? Simply put - Stevie Francis athletic ability is light years ahead of his basketbal IQ. The sooner he realizes that the team needs to have him play consistently at a high level with "team-cohesion" and good decsion making then we can be talking less about his deficiencies. It did be nice for him to know that nearly no one is indispensable on that team also as of now (save for Yao and maybe Eddie). I still appreciate Steve nonetheless.
all those pg better than steve francis have never won a ring so really there not better than steve, rings are what everyone thinks about when it comes to being a top of the line player. thats why d.wilkins is not top 50 no rings
