making up trade ideas, I may as well.

Situation: Hakeem continues to be frustrated with the offense and the Rockets learn it will be just like any other team come this offseason in going for his services. They decide to trade the big fella. In Portland, Dale Davis, Shawn Kemp, and Rasheed Wallace are all playing very very well, but noone can defensively handle the centers of the west. They are desperate for a true center, and with Kemp and Davis playing so well, Sheed is expendable.

    So...
Rockets send: Hakeem Olajuwon (signed to a 2-year extension), our first rounder, Detroit's first rounder, and Orlando's first rounder

Blazers send: Rasheed Wallace, Will Perdue

Because Mo Taylor was promised a starting spot when he signed, we try Sheed at the 3. However, by sharing time with KT and Sheed, Mo's minutes are limited, not to mention he spends half the games watching the finish from the sidelines. The Rockets also have no need for 3 such talented 4's especially with Los sitting on the bench, so the two sides agree that a trade is in the best interest of both Mo and the Rockets. Mo makes a list of teams he would be happy to play for, a list that includes the Knicks, Magic, Mavs, Lakers, Pistons, and Suns. The Pistons and Lakers, with Joe Smith and Horace Grant, show limited interest, as do the Mavs. However, the Magic, Suns, and Knicks get into a bidding war for the 4 that could "put them over the top." The Suns offer Googs but not Marion, so the Rockets eliminate them. The Knicks offer LJ and a couple first rounders, but the Rockets once again aren't interested. Then the Magic come up with the perfect offer.

    Rockets get: Mike Miller
Magic get: Mo Taylor, pick(s) owed by Bulls

With these deals, the Rockets gain their two forwards of the future as well as open up tons of PT for Cato.

    Roster:
    C Cato/Collier/Perdue
    PF Sheed/KT/Los
    SF Walt/Miller/Bullard/Langhi
    SG Shandon/Cuttino
    PG Francis/Moochie

And 9-man rotation of the future:
    C Cato
    PF Sheed
    SF Miller
    SG Shandon
    PG Francis

    Bench:
    5-4 Collier
    4-3 KT
    3-2 Cat
    1 Moochie

Do I have to explain why that would be dominant?

Obviously, some parts of this scenario are unlikely, but like I said, if everyone else is going to come up with a trade idea, why can't I?

I agree that this would open up much PT for Cato, but since Cato has not had much experience starting every game yet, I think that we should be careful putting that much responsibility on Cato's shoulders...

I personally would hate it if Cato got hurt again for 6 weeks, and we had Collier starting every game!!!

Well if Cato got hurt, you could always slide Sheed to the 5 and start KT.

And RocketBooster, sorry if it bothers you, but I personally hate reading game analysis on this board. I get enough dumb comments just by listening to Calvin Murphy. I'm not going to say I don't do it myself, but everyone thinks they're an expert when it comes to talking about games. The only thing I really like talking bout on these boards is trades, and its fun coming up with a bunch of different situations. I apologize if it bothers you that I actually have something to say besides something from a game that could easily be proved wrong if it wasn't already done so by one of the Chronicle writers or some other local sports analyst.

I love these fantasy deals. Ok I have one.

We send Mobley to Minnesota for brandon, Brandon to lakers and Kobe to the rockets.

kemp is playing well? since when?
davis needs to play the 5 since sabonis is ailing. rasheed is portlands best player by far this season not too mention one of the few young guys. he is an all star and will be for a while. portlands ONLY all star and ONLY go to player also. why would they trade him?

i can see a rodney rogers for cato swap because phoenix is stacked at the 3 and rodney isnt happy right now. thatz about it.
but that'd be an iffy deal on the rockets part because u dont come accross centers w/ cato's athleticisim

or his lack of skills hahaha

New Guy: i'm joking! And no post is bothersome involving The Rockets.

BTW Theres no way in hell the Blazers part with Rasheed, IMO.

Cato to the knicks or Suns seems more likey but who or what group of guys would mix well or have the potential to mix well with Francis n' Mobley from their squad.

There is no way anytime would part with their best player for an old person just about to retire.

So why would portland part with rasheed just to get hakeem? It doesn't make sense for the blazers to give up one of the best power forwards in the league for an old center about to retire.

One problem here, Rasheed Wallace is completely untouchable unless the other end of the deal involves Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Shaq, etc. Wallace has been showing star potential for the last few yrs and is now achieving it.

Btw, New Guy wasnt it you that posted a thread in the offseason where some Dallas friends of yours were trashing the Rockets? How did they enjoy the game Tuesday night against the shorthanded Rockets? Or are they the type that are casual fans that watch like 2 games a yr (as their comments of the Rockets having no one aside from Steve would indicate)?
