Teenage unemployment plummets NBA scouts say that as many as six high school seniors could declare themselves eligible for this year's NBA draft. Darius Miles, a 6'8" guard/forward from East St. Louis, Ill., has already indicated he'll make the jump, and Gerald Wallace, a 6'7" forward from Childersburg, Ala., is said to be leaning toward the NBA as well. Other candidates include Alton Ford, a 6'10" center from Houston, Eddie Griffin, a 6'9" forward from Philadelphia, Darius Rice, a 6'10" forward from Lanier, Miss., DeShawn Stevenson, a 6'5" shooting guard out of Fresno, Calif., and Jerome Harper, a 6'5" shooting guard from Columbia, S.C. Harper, who had his scholarship to Cincinnati pulled after he was arrested for assault, told me at the McDonald's All-American Game last week in Boston that he'll probably turn pro if he's projected to go anywhere in the first round. If not, he said, he'll likely attend junior college. Rice (Kentucky) and Stevenson (Kansas) each said they'd stay in school unless projected to go in the lottery. ------------------ The clock is winding down, and Scottie has the ball, Cato is sprinting towards him, Pippen shoots and here comes Cato. Man did you see that block?!!! Ouch it hit Scottie right between the legs. ITS FINAL!! THE ROCKETS ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF Y2K!!!
Means more good prospects to pick up. Possibly later in the draft ... ------------------ Wiz 3:16 says Walt is da man!!!
I would think some of these big guys would realize that we are short on PFs this year and so they should come out. ------------------ The farther the Rockets move down the standings, the farther I move down the bleachers.
I know Alton Ford has said he was going to play for UH, but with the recent departure of Clyde, those plans could change. He's got a big body and some skills. If he is around in the late first round, I say take him. ------------------ The lottery sucks!
