Good read. Definitely awesome to have a representative of the Asian community on the court. Loved the reference to Mary; now I gotta go search the web and find a pic. BTW, tall guys aren't *that* rare in China. Southerners (Cantonese) like the guys you see in Hong Kong are short, but Northerners (with their Mongol/Manchu blood) are considerably taller. 5'9" up in the Northeast isn't such a big deal. Now China just needs a few athletic guards to make it into the league...
Cool I just read that article on the shuttle on my way back to my apt. I think it said in the article that you have been to Bejing. I guessing that was pretty cool to go there.
It was a fun read, but yes a tad biased. The above quote should have at least been qualified somehow. I would agree Yao is a more skilled shooter and passer than Olajuwon or O'neal were at 22, but that is a far cry from suggesting Yao is more skilled. Defense, rebounding and shot-blocking Yao is not even the same class with Olajuwon and probably not Shaq either. And Yao isn't going to come close to duplicating their rookie numbers. I live in Austin and I predict you will catch much grief about some of the things in the article from Spurs/Mav fans in particular. The "Yao outscoring Robinson quote last week " is highly misleading considering Robinson outplayed him. But I like your bravery.
Good article. Now keep writing about the Rockets all year. The Texan rarely has more than a paragraph after a Rockets game.
Finally!!! A Yao Ming article! I've been wondering where all the press has been about this guy! No, I'm just playing.. Nice job, man!
The Texan does not cover the rockets, just cover UT athletics. So that's why there's no Rockets articles. If there is any rockets coverage, it's an Associated press article. This is just a column. Yeah, it's a little biased, but I still think Yao will have a great season, despite tonight's performance. Also, I don't get the honda civics either...if i had that much money to fix up a civic, I'd just buy a better car.
Ha, i thought so. Was just a guess since it was your first post. Anyways, I liked it alot. I, myself, is Filipino American and can understand alot of things u mentioned. I also do not see why u should fixed up cars, and i guess its a fade i guess.
