http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6285577.html I wonder what you guys think of Artest's comment. He said something similar about McGrady's D earlier. Wonder if this kind of stuff rubbed TMac the wrong way.
sounds to me that Yao wasnt making the block a big deal but Ron is saying that he needs to do more of that because it was a momentum changer. Its clear that Ron is trying to take more of a leadership role with this team. And I do not think Yao would take it the wrong way the guy is always trying to improve his game so any criticisms/advice/tips/comments are probably welcomed..good or bad unlike mcgrady
I don't mind Artest saying that. It was a good, clean, true statement. Any teammate should take something like that to heart. Artest may be a knucklehead and he takes some boneheaded shots, but he puts it there, calls it the way he sees it. And frankly, he's right about what he said about Yao meeting the opponent at the rim from the opposite side.
"He hasn’t really met the opposite-side drive consistently the whole season,” Artest said. “He has to get better at that." That kinda sounds like JVG right there.
“That was a big block. That could have been a momentum changer. He was there early." Artest was giving Yao props and encouragement.
artest's comment on tmac was more like a blame, cuz he was too inconsistent, this comment on Yao is just a suggestion for improvement, no biggie..
it's nothing bad against yao. he's just encouraging something that's emerged and to cultivate it because that's what's going to change the momentum
artest should take yao to NYC and show yao his hood. Yao can return the honor during the summer and take him to china. All artest wants is to see a meaner ming out there, and we all want to see that.
It was a good statement to make, no bad intentions although hearing Artest saying some other stuff you would think otherwise. Ron does every imply here he really means that Yao should do that and needs to be more of a leader, which he himself is trying to be in Tracy's absense and I LOVE IT !!! Say goodbye to Yao & T-mac, say hello to Yao & Ron. The new tag team with two totally different personalities who do share the same qualitites in that they're hard workers, want to win and try to lead though in different ways. They're the perfect Yin and Yang and this is a perfect photo of the two together: http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/a5/f...8be9aefd-getty-82990634jm024_cavs_rockets.jpg Ron showing his teeth, the strong body, the emotion, the grittyness and Yao showing his mental state, the easy spirit, the fire and the seriousness. Maybe some1 should make a nice wallpaper of it
Have to agree, its not going to happen for Yao every game though. It was the adrenaline on Thursday, national TV, good opponent and one of the best players in the game LBJ that psyched him, he came through in the clutch though along with most of the Rockets.
Artest is dead on. These kind of plays are absolute Momentum changers. Anybody that watches team sports understands the significance of those type of plays. They immediately provide a boost to all players on the team that one of their leaders that gets paid the max money is actually leading the team to victory. Consistent plays like that in the post season are what champions are made of. The reverse is also true. If he consistently allows people to drive for easy layups or take charges rather than attempting a block is demoralising for the team as it shows weakness. Team sports is very much psychological, everyone feeds off one another and plays reverberate in the collective team psyche.
Someone needs to man up in the team and say Ron Ron needs to stop jacking up the ball and look for a better shot at times.
This is very different from the mcgrady comment. Artest was criticizing Mcgrady's effort. Yao's effort is unquestioned here--all Artest is doing is making a technical suggestion as to how to better apply that effort. Artest is a former defensive player of the year and, as he showed against Lebron, knows his stuff on the defensive end of the floor. Given that, I'm sure Yao will take no offense--he's a perfectionist, and Artest is making a valid and constructive suggestion. All Ron is saying is "That block was a game-changer, whether or not you acknowledge it. If you do that more often, our team will be even better." I'm all for this sort of talk.
I'm with Artest on this one.. Yao has to get more aggressive and its been showing the past 5 games.. Will he continue this playing style? Who knows but Artest is just speaking the truth.. If you can't handle the truth then become a Utah fan
Artest = DOPY He can say whatever he wants because obviously he has achieved something nobody on the team has. True statement as well. Tmac is just a little girl and cant handle the truth. Tmac's D really do suck though no lie.
