Ron Artest believes that the Lakers can be like the Bulls of the late 1990s. Artest, who signed a free-agent deal with Los Angeles this summer, grew up as a fan of Michael Jordan. "The opportunity was unbelievable. I get a chance to play with Kobe, Michael Jordan's my favorite player, Kobe's probably the closest person to Michael Jordan, so I get to kind of relive that whole Chicago Bulls thing growing up, that was my favorite team," Artest told 790 The Ticket in Miami. "So, Phil Jackson, you got Kobe Bryant, you got myself at the three like Scottie Pippen, you have a clutch shooter in Derek Fisher like a Steve Kerr, you have Lamar Odom like a Toni Kukoc, it's just fun, it's a dream. I thank God so much to be in this situation, get a chance to win, playing with the defending champs, and I'm in LA 'cause you know I love the spotlight." http://sportsradiointerviews.com/20...n-to-the-white-house-and-blocked-obamas-shot/
Career FG% Pippen - 47.3% Artest - 42.2% Career APG Pippen - 5.2 Artest - 3.2 Career RPG Pippen - 6.4 Artest - 5.1 Career PPG Pippen - 16.1 (although roughly 20 PPG in Chicago) Artest - 16.1
I hate Scottie. You hate Scottie. We all hate Scottie!!!! With that said Artest can't touch Pip's jock strap. But Artest said he wants to be "like" Scottie. Way to take things out of context.
Using Pippen's Chicago Champ era numbers (90-98) vs Ron's numbers last year: Points: Pippen - 20 Artest - 17 FG% Pippen - 48% Artest - 40% Boards: Pippen - 7.2 Artest - 5.2 Assists: Pippen - 6.0 Artest - 3.3
The 5% difference in FG% is huge. From the SF position, 40% is borderline developmental league and 50+% will get you some All-Star consideration. How many times last year did you say to yourself, "I kind of wish Artest would shoot a little more, especially from 15'+ "?
Does that mean that we trade for him in two years only to watch him wreck our season and blame someone else when we lose in the playoffs?
Never. Haha. Although, I do encourage him to shoot those stationary on-balance 3's. Those go in most of the time.
Unfortunately, Ron might beat Pippen in one area: How quickly it takes him to go bankrupt after the end of his basketball career. I hope somebody is forcing him to put a substantial amount of money in a trust so that he doesn't end up spending it all on ridiculous crap.
He has to be kidding. How the hell can he all of the sudden become a Pippen type of player, when he thinks he is even better than Jordan? Can you explain? This guy is an idiot. I am pretty sure he will destroy Lakers' chemistry.
He got one thing right in his quote, he does love the spotlight, and I guess Houston is just to small for him. This season with the Fakers should be intresting.
I stop paying attention to what artest says when he said Roy was the best player he's played against. He's an idiot.
Well I just hope Artest will do what Pippen did to the Rockets with the Lakers, that is kill the lakers chemistry and first round playoffs exit!
