Says he wants to stay in H-town but talks about the Pistons... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9Sd3OBLhc8
My impression of what he is saying is that 1) he would rather remain with the Rockets but 2) if he had to play for Detroit, he harbors no bad blood regarding the Auburn Hills incident. IMO you cannot accurately read into this that he wants to go to Detroit. He is just saying he has grown up, citing that he has abandoned all the thug rap.
I agree with thumbs. Nothing here, nothing here at all. He is just trying not to close any doors. First and foremost he wants to be paid. Second he wants to be paid by the Rockets. Third he wants to be paid by any other NBA team. Fourth He wants to be paid by any overseas team. And Fifth if he can not get the big money and the amount he is being offered is pretty much the same across the board he would probably choose Houston. But make no mistake first he wants someone to show him the money.
all hes sayin is taht if he "had to play there, he would"..he not sayin ne thing about possibly signing wit them or ne thing...face it..ARTEST is staying with us. and he is going to help the ROCKETS win a championship in a season or two. *on another note..the idea of signing and tradeing him for rip doesnt sound too off ...but i love defense..and defense wins championshipS!
Considering he only has a select number of teams who can give him money outside of Houston, he might as well try and open his doors for Detroit.
Third should be first. The Kings then a lottery team only traded him to Houston when he was becoming a nuisance because they didn't offer a contract extension. http://sportsbybrooks.com/artest-wont-take-paycut-for-chance-at-nba-title-18462 He even said he was worth around $12M/yr to sign last off-season. We've seen how players in this league have moped after not getting the contract they want. If there isn't much of a market for Artest I'd still look for a S&T.
Useless bargaining posture. Why would Detroit spend money on him? If they were going to shell out some dough, they might as well have kept Chauncey Billups rather than shed his salary.
As a Detroit fan, they would be incredibly stupid to even think about signing Artest. They'd lose at least one fan for the duration of his tenure.
