There is no way that the Pacers go through this entire season with Artest on the inactive list.

    1) too much distraction to the Pacers team. Too many questions being asked. They will get tired of it.

    2) if they keep him inactice the whole year, it's basically 2 years that he has missed. His trade value will be even lower at the end of the year and during the offseason than it is now.

They're either gonna bring him back or trade him in the next little while. I don't think they are gonna wait til the end of the year.

JO is sitting there telling management he wants Harrington. It looks like to me that whoever can offer Atlanta the most enticing package of players could get Artest in a 3 way.

If Denver is really offering Watson and Nene to Atlanta, why not offer Atlanta Rafer and Stromile. In return Atlanta can ship Indy Tony Delk with Harrington and Indy can send us Artest and whatever. Indy gets total cap relief plus they get chemistry plus they have the choice to re-sign Al. Atlanta gets a solid PG and a value PF to play with JJ, Smith, and Zaza.

You may think that leaves us a little thin up front, but Artest can play the 4. We've still got Howard and a banging Baxter. We should be able to find one more big body, maybe moving Moochie's expiring for something or else sign a CBAer. Sign Spree and run Head, Spree, TMac, Artest with Yao???

Does anyone think we are really not interested in Artest?

Van Gundy isn't interested in high maintenance players.

Donnie Walsh is playing this perfectly. Half the league has already offered something for Artest, so he can easily get teams into a bidding war. The closer the trading deadline gets, the more teams will offer.

Aretest's trade value will not go down during the season, mainly because of his versatility and his defensive ability. He doesn't need the ball to be effective, which is why he's such a hot commodity. Plus, he'll be uninjured and fresh for a playoff team. I'm thinking that he'll trade Artest to a bottom feeder for young players and draft picks, though...

    This should be very interesting...

Yes, I think the Rockets genuinely are not interested in Artest. If Francis was too headstrong and Griffin was too much of a distraction for Van Gundy, he definitely won't be touching any trades for Artest.

I don't see how we can't be interested at all. After all, if he walks to Denver or another rival, they're just that much better. Can you imagine Denver with Miller, Artest, Melo, KMart, and Camby????

We'd have to make some sort of move to counter that, even if it was just for a player that was specifically brought in to mess with Artest's head when we play them and see if he will do something really stupid and get booted. Otherwise, if he winds up with Denver.......or Golden State......or Seattle......or whoever....he makes them a much better team and even harder for us to match up with on the perimeter. It may make somebody like Sprewell so much more a necessity.

Artest can play more of a 4 than Swift can. Artest bullied Stro to the basket on postup time and time again in the game against Indiana. Artest can defend 1 thru 4, no problem. If you think Artest will have problems guarding 4s in the west, Swift does not even stand a chance.

Anyone remember the last time we traded our only real PF for a star swingman? I think it was maybe Valentine's Day....

    where are you hearing this?

There is no mention of this rumor on the 2 most active Pacers boards, IndyStar and Pacers Digest.

Read it on fanball.com. The more I think of it, that deal is pretty heavily weighed in New York's favor, so it may not have any legs.

You're a mean one, Ron Artest.
    You really are a heel.
You're as cuddly as a cactus,
You're as charming as an eel.
    Ron Artest.

    You're a bad banana
    With a greasy black peel.

    You're a monster, Ron Artest.
    Your heart's an empty hole.
Your brain is full of spiders,
You've got garlic in your soul.
    Ron Artest.

    I wouldn't touch you, with a
    thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole.

You don't even have to change the words to that one and it works...

Seriously? I was going to say New York would be overpaying. Talent-wise, Marbury for Artest is pretty equal, and somehow Marbury is less of a cancer (not sure he's ever been involved in a deal when that happened). Then, to through Frye in on top? Why?
