http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sports/kings/archives/017994.html?mi_rss=Kings Blog and Q&A I dont know what Artest is really talking about. Martin is a really good player but better then Reggie Miller? I've seen Reggie play so many times and there is no way he is.
artest is crazy. martin is very underrated in the nba. it's a pity he doesn't get more love. but to say he's better than a hall of famer and one of the nba's greatest all time players is a little bit too much.
He's surprisingly close to where Reggie was in his prime. Obviously his career doesn't stack up, but Martin's been very good the last couple of years. You especially have to appreciate his ability to get to the FT line.
Give Kevin Martin enough time, maybe this turns out to be true. Saying it now is nutty. But we ARE talking about Ron Ron.
Out of the 6'7 and under 195 with one dimensional game club the pecking order goes like this. As of today. Reggie Miller >>>>>>>>> Rip Hamilton ≥ Kevin Martin I didn't like Reggie Miller per se when he played and he was overshadowed by Jordan and Drexler but if you go back and look at his stats he was pretty damn amazing. A fierce competitor when there was bad blood. Also when it came to clutch moments and last second shots there was no time like MILLER TIME. Ain't nobody caused more pain and heartache for the Knicks and their fans than Reggie Miller. Isiah Thomas included. I remember going Nucking Futz when Reggie hit that 3 against the Bulls in play number 3. I love Artest but he's talking out of his a$$ on this one.
I think (and hope) he was referring to the Reggie Miller HE played with. In that case i think i agree with him.
Reggie's greatness in a large part is because of his late game clutchness. He is one of the best of all time in that regard. Martin has a long, long way to go to sniff that.
I think Artest is saying that because he compares the old Reggie to the constantly improving Martin. Obviously Miller was already on his last legs and therefore would seem worse than Martin. I'm pretty sure Miller at his peak> Hamilton (or rather Miller was Hamilton with 3 pt range), and right now Hamilton>Martin.
Don't underestimate Rip Hamilton. He's very quietly becomes a legitimate threat from the 3 pt line. Last year, he shot 44% (which is higher than Reggie ever shot).
