that was the dumbest basketball player since luther head tried to dribble. he had A TON of chances to pass to yao and just refused and had nothing to show for it after dribbling.
I wonder how many passes he will get when he does this during the playoffs.... RA.. needs to but a stop to this and quickly.... Oh wait... That's not his style..
Yup, it's funny that people relate this to the fact he's in his contract year and is trying to get his numbers up. This is just the it's on me version of Tracy and you can quote ARtest on it when he says I like to be in that position, like to take the last shot etc. Ron did a good job this year staying within the offense except for a few games where he went nuts and wanted to do it all by himself. Lately it has happened vs. Bulls (loss), Lakers (loss), Bobcats (almost lost) and probably some I forgot. He needs to stick to the game plan and realise Yao's the man or else he can leave.
he also would like to prove he's an all-star level player b/c the money he's asking for is for all-star level players. he's been saying all the right things and he's been doing all the right things for most of the year -> b/c it's his contract year. let's hope he continues that for the rest of the year and help us. we'll think about signing him after the season is over.
Ron is Ron. I fully expect him to go off half-cocked during the playoffs, especially if the Rockets are losing. It's just the way he is.
trust me, after he does that for one game, he'll get blasted and he'll know he's not that good and "better" goes back to the normal ron. he's simply not a guy who can take over a game offensively and he has to know that. the ron we've seen the previous few weeks is the ron we need: that's the ron who will help us.
You don't think it's the case that the Ron we were seeing the previous few weeks was doing similar things, but he just hitting those shots?
he'll take bad shots here and there, but he was playing within his role: taking spot up 3s, post up... these last few games, too many 1-on-1 from the top of the key and he's terrible at that. like in the first 3 quarters v. the bobcats, he was like 2-8 but i thought he played well. the shots he took were good, played defense... so it's not really if he makes/miss shots. it's how he takes those shots.
Have you seen highlights of some Kings games when Ron (and ironically enough Rick Adelman) was them? I believe he did the same exact crap because he thought he was the clutch go to guy. If he didn't learn back then, what hope do we have that he learns in the next couple of weeks?
stephen jackson would fit this team better -> at least he's an above average playmaker if he can't shoot.
yeah i'm definitely not into resigning him. i agree with those saying it's not just a contract year phenomenon, the dude thinks of himself as "the man" and this attitude is preventing us from giving shots to yao or to any other player. if he shot better, i wouldn't mind his occasional tunnel vision but he doesn't merit it.
These screen shots almost don't do justice to how bad this really was. I mean I remember watching it and I was like "what the ****" pass the damn ball! What made the play all the worse was that Yao had hit is prior two shots. So what happens? YAO gets 1) a foul called on him; 2) a TO credited even the RON was the problem.
I didn't see the play, but it would fit Ron's type of play this year. It's a contract year but there's no excuse not to pass the ball to Yao in that situation.
