I am rooting for the Lakers and ex-Rocket Ron Artest. If they win the championship, Ron's journey for salvation, a part of which took place with the Rockets, will be complete.

Best of luck to Ron. Who is with me?

I'm pretty indifferent to him. He was a fun player while he was here, but I never got the fascination. I was shocked to see how many people were wearing Artest jerseys when I went to a playoff game last year.

I supported Barkley when he first made the "if you can't beat them, join them" move, I guess I can support Ron's efforts as well.

He seems like a nice, sincere guy off the court and I hope he settle whatever demons are plaguing him. On the court, though, he's extremely dirty and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends someone's career "accidentally" one day.

If he wins, I'll be happy for him and not bitter.

you'd like to be a good human being and basketball fan and be happy for him, but i can't help but think he's going to find a way to $%#@ it up by saying "See, Houston?" or "This is what y'all missed out on"....

It might not seem like it, but if you look at Artest's +/- this series, the Lakers are MUCH better with him on the court than off of it. He led the starters in +/- in 3 of the 6 games so far this series and had only 1 game where his +/- is negative. Maybe his D, boards, and hustle do out weigh the bad that he does on offense.

I'm also hoping Ron gets that ring. He fully deserves it.... it'll put his craziness at ease.

This thread is the best idea since the guy who showed up at the party with a boner in sweatpants.

I agree. Ron helped us get out of the first round for the first time in quite a while. He gets my support because of that. If it's rooting for a first-time ring recipient (that's what we're left to grasp at), I'll root for Mr. Artest any day over that a**clown Nate Robinson.

It's funny how much public opinion of a guy can change after he wears your team's jersey for a year.

Definitely for Artest winning a ring, and not just because he has been a Rocket.

Of course, his offense has always been suspect, but he brought a certain toughness to our team that still lingers, as far as I'm concerned.

Although the arrogant Bryant will will win the ring if Artest does (they are on the same team, duhh), I wouldn't mind seeing Artest winning a ring.

Come on, he singlehandedly made everyone at TD Garden stand up and cheer. Who thought the shortest player on the floor could have the biggest energy impact?

He took a pay cut to win a ring, so I hope he gets it. Reading threads from when he was a Rocket, consensus was for Morey to sign him for 8-10M.

Artest deserves too, he's been through hell in his NBA career, and what a story would it be if he wins. After the suspension few years ago, redeem himself into a man and win a championship...Downside that would mean Kobe get's his 5th ring. DO NOT WANT. We'll see...

HOnestly, one of the main reasons I'm rooting against the Lakers is because of Ron.
