I'm thinking between 10-15 Mil a year for 5 years regardless of how poor he performs this season. More than likely, whichever team he ends up on, if he makes the playoffs, a strong performance will boost his value.
Hard to say, depends on if a teams sees his over dribbling, chunking up of horrible shots and only going for steals as a detriment or ballz to the wall competitiveness. A team that see Matt Harping alot is more likely to give him some cash then a team that sees Al Thornton more.
at this point, I'm wondering if his career is just about over. I can't see a team givin him any more than the mle, and then I would think only on a year contract with team opt on 2nd. Why in the world would someone give him any more right now?
he can ask as mach as he wanted, but i doubt any team would give him much. After this year's lack luster performance and injury, plus people think he would produce and behave under alderman. Which i think Ron did to certain point until he lashed out on Tmac (reasonable and justed). It's a alot closer to 2010, teams are now gearing up to the FA and i doubt any team would give Ron more money as they are saving for cap rooms. Unless maybe another year rental type of contract. Or one of those teams like thunder, bobcats...etc. The ecomony is not gonna improve much if at all, no team is going to bet on Ron and his chemistry.
I am guessing anywhere like 8mils for 3 years, with team on 3rd yr option, or 2 years for 11 mil type of contracts.

A good question, hard to say, but one thing is clear, you run into a risk if you sign him for a long term contact because he is not a stable guy.
The other question is: Given whatever contract Artest would likely agree to this summer, would it be SO MUCH BETTER than Vince Carter's deal right now? My guess is that Artest's deal will be for at least the same length (likely another 1-2 seasons extra) and would be for only a couple million per season less.
In respect to most players your logic is sound, but this is Ron Artest that we're talking about. You've got a similar chance of predicting the winning lottery numbers as to what Artest will decide to do. Would anyone be surprised if Artest took less money to go to NYC or some place else?
Artest mostly benefits a contending team. Which playoff teams have the cap space to go after him in free agency? Which of those teams are eying 2010? Non-contending teams are looking ahead at 2010. Which of those teams are willng to jeopardise their 2010 chances by giving Artest a big contract? There's a chance he signs for a 1 year deal where 2010 free agency losers will be more open to giving him a bigger contract.
Sorry forgot to put that 10-15 would probably what he expects, especially if he has a strong performance in the playoffs. Getting that is a different story.

No, we can't. Artest will be an unrestricted free agent. He can sign with whatever team he wants and doesn't have to give the Rockets the time of day this summer.
