I am trying to figure out where I can find a certain type of painting. It's bascially a face portrait that is done with all different colors (almost pastel-like)....almost like a Nieman...I have seen them in people's homes where they have these portraits of their kids. For instance, if they have 4 kids, the portrait is divided into 4 squares and a portrait is painted of each kid. I can't for the life of me find out what type of art this is ...what it is called ...or where i can get this made. Thanks in advance for the help.

Sounds like the cover of that magazine from the 80's
Remember Interview? It was a fashion/scene magazine put out by Andy Wharol?
He did all the covers in chalkie style.

I dunno man, but get an image projector, go to Texas Art get some chalk and you're almost there!:)

They refer to that "style" as pop art. Just tell them you want something like Warhol's Marilyn. EVERYBODY knows that one.

Thats what I was thinking, although he might have trouble getting Andy to do his kids portraits by now.

BTW, those are silk screens not chalk or pastel....the cost would be considerably more but it can be done by anyone with the equipment.

You might want to try finding a digital artist. I had a similar thing done for Christmas gifts for my wife's family last year. I took an existing shot and a friend of mine scanned the image and was able to reproduce that look in a very short time.

No, we put it on translucent film so it could be back-lit. I don't know if it could be transfered to canvas.

Not sure where you are NJRocket, but take the pics you want silkscreened to a T-shirt silkscreen place. You might bring them unstretch canvas and an image of the Warhol piece.
Ask and see if they'll work with you.
You'll have to stretch the canvas yourself proably, but as long as you get the images down, you're almost there.
Keeping in mind a T-shirt place won't have very large size silk screen machines, you'd end up with images around 16X20". Not bad when there are 4 of them, this could cover a good space of wall.

thats all I can think of.
