We moved back over the Summer and just a couple of weeks ago started hanging our "art" on the wall... ... what a difference! The place feels so much more like home. Last week we had a lady who owns a local consignment gallery stop by our house and keep an eye out for some things that could go where we had some space that "begged" for something to be hung there. Today she brought some stuff out and we put it up. IT LOOKS GREAT. I think I was one of those people who kind of took art for granted, but I have a resounding new appreciation. I think it would be fun for those of you who are technically advanced to upload some photos of your favorite piece of art that hangs in your home. Please no turds in the toilet either. Can't believe I had to ask that but I feel like I'll get one or two anyway...
I do my own abstract "Jackson Pollack" style paintings and I have about 8 of them hanging in my den. I will try to upload some photos to share sometime this weekend.
Scott Yeskel in the house! his abstracts rock too. otherwise, everything is by friends. paintings, prints and photos.
took this pic in 2005, did the editing w/picasa 2, have it blown up and framed. Spoiler Maybe will post some more if I can find them later
Diego Rivera replica portraits in the [SwoLy] House! Uncultured swine show up to the house and ask: "Diego Rivera... wow... that's cool... is that someone from California?!? " --------- In other news, ADORAMAPIX.com has 8x10 prints @ $.99, 11x14 prints @ $1.99, and 16x20 prints @ 4.99 ! (B-Bob, SamFisher)
Oh, well well well, my good friend bald bob chimes in with his usual cheap shot at my expense. Typical b-bobert hangout taliban hit-and-run, lodging an IED in the middle of my life and running away cackling like a colobus monkey on whippets. What's with your mysterious reappearance on the BBS? Did the boys down at JPL lose all the 20-sided dice? Thus making it really hard to make the saving throws? I don't know why I put myself through this. I really don't. I am at a loss now.
Mostly have my own photos and some chalk drawings in matte frames from back in college... I had an art scholarship at one point.
Yes. And other bad things too. They made me control the Mars rovers for 40 straigtht days after they surpassed their life expectancy but nobody was interested anymore. Day after day of just sitting their giving the stupid things commands. Left, right. Stop. Start. 0.5 mph in the vast expanse of red nothingness. It was too great an analogy for my career. Or like visiting southern Utah... but that story for another time. (How was I to know polygamy didn't mean multiple husbands?) But anyway, I should focus my pain on neither your arts nor your crafts. Please share more of your work with the internet community here, and I will comment no further.
Great picture. How big did you get it blown up to, where, and how much? There's a few pics I'm considering doing this with.
Why did you write "art"...do you mean posters of art or something? I don't feel like taking pictures but I have paintings, drawings, sculpture, and etchings/lithographs in my home. All US (decent number from Texas) artists, and even some of my own stuff to fill space. Every now and then I will copy a famous painting just to have something better than a poster on my wall but I don't really consider it "my art". For example I copied these two:
I just used cheap ass shutterfly or one of those services - it was quite cheap. thinking about having it redone with a higher end place
I just put it in quotations because some of what we might think of art others may not. I have an original Dan Allison. We were friends as kids. He has some notoriety as I understand it. This piece was done in the 80s perhaps.
