Got a paper due tomorrow and was wondering if anyone knows any good sites as for as info on ancient art.. hell if anyone has written a paper on this ( i have to compare an art piece from a certain culture ex. greek or time frame to another in the same culture or time frame) any pointers or example papers would help. I hate that my teacher takes this class so serious!! then again it is her job?
I loved Art History. I got a 115/100 on a test once. And the tests were hard too. All extra credit. I am awesome. Edit - maybe I misread your question... You need to just compare 1 piece of Art from one culture to another piece from that same period and culture? How hard could that be? Do you even have a textbook?
that sounds easy enough but i was suppose to pick a piece from one of the art museums.. i got a couple in mind but they are all so simple looking its hard to write about. I wanted to do greek jewelry but they didnt have any at the mencil museum
LOL yeah i have a text book, one piece from the museum to one in the book but im finding it hard to write a whole paper on just this one thing
Art really isn't that hard to write about. You just have to be good at bull****ting and coming up with fluff. You look at a piece of art and explain why its ironic / allegorical etc. Explain possible meanings of certain figures... make certain psychological assumptions on the artist's personal life based on the popular culture at the time. Comment on stuff like the artist's possible motivation, spiritual or individual meaning of the work, stuff like that.
Thats what my friend said.. you just got to BS! but those are some good examples thanks! Now i just got to start it, which is the hard part for me
I'll help you out here. If you want an easy piece from the same period to compare/contrast than I would suggest looking at "Judith Beheading Holofernes" by my favorite artist ever... Caravaggio. The religious depiction portrait was first painted by Caravaggio and later done again by the heavily Caravaggio-influenced female painter Artemisia Gentileschi. The period is early baroque and oil on canvas is still the standard. It is really easy to come up with things to say when you're talking about a man's perspective of the story compared to a woman's perspective. Her painting portrays Judith gladly beheading the b*stard who wronged her, whereas Caravaggio's depiction showed her a lot more timid. Gentileschi was sexually abused and that probably had a lot to do with her motives during the work. If you talk about that kind of feminist **** your Art History professor will love it.
i wrote this paper like 2 years. probably had the same teacher. unfortunately i don't have the paper because i wrote it on a different computer... i'll check some old email accounts maybe it's there.
then you should be thinking "i should sleep early tonight, so i can wake up early tomorrow to write this paper"
man if you could find it that would be a life saver! hell i might have to buy you a playoff ticket. The hardest papers to write last minute are the ones you have to research ahead of time
well i'll be damned. i found it, might be the rough draft copy of it though. i also found a copy of the byzantine chapel paper too. it compares some Egyptian sculpture to a Greek bowl thing (kylix). paper is 5 pages, with 1 source... you will have to go through and proof read it changing w/e you want adding source etc... email?
Oh God, This is an academic travesty. How hard is it to write a simple paper. Don't destroy the integrity of your education.
WOW i hope this is what i need! what museum did you visit and which piece is from that museum? n.hsmith@yahoo.com p.s if this is what i need im serious about that ticket if you would be interested..
I do feel bad, now i feel worse but i like to thank we all been through this... No? well i picked a subject but cant find too much info on it... Funerary monument lions
We've all been through it, definitely. I've given two or three papers out to cfers over the years...educational integrity my ass. It's all about getting through it.
You're cheating your classmates, your teacher, your school, your country, your president, your continent, your planet and your God. I hope you're happy.
