watched season 1 of each of these shows and these are my thoughts: arrested development - ok, i don't know what the big deal is with you guys and this show. but the first season wasn't anything spectacular. i had high hopes for this show and maybe it gets way better in the next two seasons but i do not understand why you guys think this is one of the best shows of all-time... battlestar gallactica - the first episode began slow then it picked up. this is a GREAT show. nothing like i expected. plays nothing like stargate or star trek or any of those shows... its like a mix of the suspense and political themes in 24 and the character driven story in Lost. the end of season 1 was a shocker... i wonder if he really is dead? the weak part of season one was all the seductive scenes by no. 6 and dr. baltar... it got too repetitive and i hope there isn't much of those scenes in the following seasons. plus, they could have made the terrorist guy much more imposing. i hope the show continues to improve ... and i have read some reactions about the ending of this series by you guys and how you all think they didnt conclude it very well. i hope im not too disappointed by it... gonna catch the wire soon.
Arrested Development takes time to catch on, but it is really good. Then again, it is the kind of show that you either get it or you don't. It is a different kind of funny.
Oh I got it alright. I even watch with subtitles. i probably only laughed out loud two, three times throughout season 1.
Arrested Development is really funny. I would say keep watching it, especially since there aren't that many episode. I have watched that show so many times and its still too funny! <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7XYhSLTgyAY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7XYhSLTgyAY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Best of Tobias Funke: Spoiler <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lDSqcCPRsW0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lDSqcCPRsW0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Both Battlestar Galactica and The Wire are awesome out of the gate. For both, the final season sucked. After about 3ish seasons, both started their death spiral, IMO. But the first couple seasons both of those shows are probably the best TV I've seen in the last 10 years.
aww man. gets me worried about how lost will end. are there any series out there at all that starts and ends well??? geez
I'm taking a wild guess that you're a McGrady fan. You should be used to things that start well but finish with disappointment.
ok i think ive foud the pilot..or mninseries whatever that is... can someone please let me know if this is the first episode . I want to start watching http://videolistr.com/watch-battlestar-galactica-season-1-miniseries-online/
believe me... i'm anything but a mcgrady fan. i hate him with every fiber of my being. this name is a curse to me. t-mac lost me a long time ago.
With the exception of how they tied up Starbuck's plotline, I liked and was satisfied with BSG's final season and finale.
whew... thanks for lifting my spirits for this show. i mean... who would want to keep watching a show when everybody is telling you the end sucks?
I was just messing with you. I couldn't help making the connection between your username and the comment. I was a big McGrady fan at one time.
I'm in the process of watching this series now thanks to the Sci-Fi thread, and I just got through the first 4 episodes of season 3. I would have to say I loved all of the episodes until I got up to Season 3. Why did they have to take such a great series and make it political?
I agree completely. Though I will say I was more pleased with the last few episodes, including the finale, than I was with the final season as a whole. I also think some are being too harsh on season 3. It was a change, for sure, but an ok twist imo. The biggest issue is just that the mini-series that started it and season 1 were so good, inevitably there has to be a "let-down" season in there. Still, great series overall.
