Schwarzenneger is an extremely moderate Republican, so California could have done a lot worse. He's not that far right of Davis.

I wish him well and hope California can turn things around.

Yeah, Arnold isn't that far right. When rumors of Arnold running first surfaced, there was a little uproar by conservatives about Arnold not being a "real" conservative.

Anyway, I know there is some serious paper shredding going on in Sac-town right now.:D

Yep....hopefully for the people of California, Ahhnuld can shred the deficit as easily as he coped this classic speech:

Maybe that is the lamentation of Gray Davis? :D

Maybe now that ARnold got elected we will find out the secret proposals direction for the state that ARnold wouldn't talk about while he was a candidate.

California is screwed. Since I lean towards libertarian, I agree with most of Arnold's views on paper, but he came off as a complete jackass in the debate. McClintock is far more qualified for the job.

    Here comes another Ventura.

This could be fun to watch in a train wreck sort of way. Interesting that the results are playing out in a similar fashion to the 2000 presidential election in that the margins favoring Arnold in the rural areas are much greater than in the urban areas.

So you're looking forward to watching things go bad. This confirms my suspicions that you liberals WANT things to go bad, not just in Kalifornia, but in the US to discredit the Republican administrations.

California overwhelmingly went to a Republican last night. Shows the state of the democratic party....

Yet another landmark victory for Republicans everywhere. The Democratic party is moving farther and farther way from the American voter. It is truly a party on the decline, with waning support. It is *great* to see the hard work and determination of the Republican movement in California be rewarded with this victory. It is even better to see the liberals' dirty politics and smear tactics (Hitler references, timely and perhaps frivolous allegations by women) *not* be rewarded. Good has triumphed over evil.

Does this mean that Predator is the greatest movie of all time? What other movie can boast a cast with two future governors (Arnold and Ventura) in it?

Oh yeah, The Running Man. OK, so it is a tie.

Arnold is pro choice, pro gun control, supports gay marraige, and is against drilling for oil off of the coast of California.

Dumb, there's a reason you havnt seen Bush around California or talking about the race. If George Bush ( a real Republican) had campaigned for him, Arnold would have lost. He won because he is a "republican" who is socially liberal. Nobody even identifies him with the Republican party. He is an "outsider". California wasnt anti-democrat they were anti-gray davis. So before you pee your pants because GW might win California, ask you yourself this... Will he alienate 2/3 of his base to try and win California? He will have to, and the conservatice Christian right is not pragmatic.

Just my humble opinion, but I think the Californians would have elected Arnold if he'd have run as an Independent. The Republicans needed Arnold much more than he needed them.
