    http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/08/31/calif.recall/index.html

If George Bush, with his lackluster oratorical abilities and limited ability to think on his feet, can go to a couple of debates, why can't Arnold? Shoot, the guys an actor, he should be able to rehearse and deliver some meaningless catch phrases.

Maybe becaue he won't be getting softballs from Jay Leno, or maybe because his plan to balance the budget (not cut spending, not raise taxes) is so super secret that it can't be revealed in that it defies the laws of mathematics.

Maybe his German accent doesn't bode well in public speeches, much less in heated debates.

    "Ja, I won't kvit(quit) until I win."

How about a debate between Arnold and Gallagher with a warmup match between Dennis Miller and Al Franken?:D

Gallagher is my kind of candidate for California: We should name our ICBMs something really scary, like "Oops."

Is anyone else surprised that Huffington is not making more of an impact in this race? Wasn't she supposed to be the refreshing alternative as the re-born Republican?

Do Californians have the common sense to avoid putting the accent on the accents or will they continue to just be incensed over the absence of dollars and cents?:D

I am a little surprised, but with the Republicans painting her as a wacked out liberal, it is pretty easy to see why. The main parties see her as a threat because she attacks the pork barrel policies that members of both parties engage in and because she says exactly what she feels.

Independents always get the short end of the stick.

The dollars and cents candidate IS Huffington. Besides, the leader in the race is Bustamante, who is someone who actually has a plan for the state, unlike the Governator.

My candidate of choice really is Leo Gallagher.

This recall sets a bad precedent for ALL elections. As much as I dislike Gray Davis and his policies, I believe California elected him and therefore should suffer with him until the end of his term. It will teach them not to listen to slogans and labels but to examine the character, ideas and ideals of the candidates.

There is a real danger in letting popularity polls determine the state of the state (or nation). The threat of a recall can easily paralyze elected officials from making hard decisions (usually unpopular but made with insight not readily available to us little people) that they deem necessary for the good of the people.

This recall is over the top to me. I agree that if you elect someone, they should be your official until the next election, that is what a democracy is all about.

One of two things will happen in Cali.
    1. The recall fails.
    2. The recall passes and Bustamante takes over.

It would make more sense if a successful recall simply elevated the Lieautent Governor to the top office instead of this circus that has ensued.

My wife and I were talking about that last night and it seems to us that this should be the case. That is what the LG is there for, to take over for the Governor if, for some reason, s/he is unable to perform their duties. Should work like the VP when the President leaves office early.

Arnold sounds a lot more stupid when he's talking than when he's saying his lines in a movie.

    He's struhggling to form thoughts.

He'll get beat and he won't be bachk.

    LOL

    I'm still laughing.

"Mr. Schwarzenegger, you're well-known, sir, for your lenient stance on crime. But let's suppose for a second that your house was ransacked by thugs, your family tied up in the basement with socks in their mouths. You try to open the door, but there's too much blood on the knob...My question is about the budget, sir."

I agree about the precedent. It's very dangerous, imo. How California ever came up with such an asinine "system" is beyond me. And, for sure, if there is a recall... the Lt. Governor should take over. Why else do you have him? Cut ribbons at ceremonies??

I still say that if I still lived in Los Angeles, I would be supporting the p*rn star, Mary Carey, for Governor.

    --taxes on breast implants
    --lap dances are tax deductable
--manditory guns for p*rn videos exchange program

This woman knows how to stimulate the economy and make the streets safer! Support her candidacy!:D
