Someone still died. It's a sad state of affairs when citizens of a wealthy first world developed nation feels the need to pack heat to feel safe at a place of worship.
Yes, I do believe we should have the right to self defense also. But I don't think the vast majority of of the Democrat proposals would limit these church goers right to carry a firearm to a church that allows it. If there are, I would disagree with them.
You do realize that criminals will get guns and other weapons regardless. If it wasn't a shotgun, it could have been a string of deadly knife attacks or a bomb. At least for edged weapons and guns, the ability to pack heat came in handy. This is a testament to the power of the second amendment and the ability of common people to defend themselves. The police were minutes away so good on them for arranging their own protection. That's called being smart. People like Biden and other far left individuals who are against gun owners routinely mock people who believe in their own ability and right to arrange protection, but this church is just proof that it's effective. While two people died, a lot more were saved. Compare it with the NY stabbings of 5 or the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting that left 11 dead. If someone was armed, I am sure a lot less people would have been wounded or killed..
Exactly. Today the right is celebrating that there was a shootout in a church where ONLY a couple people died so they can score political points for the NRA. That is what is sickening to me. We have a serious problem in this country on guns violence. The answer cannot be more cheering on citizens being at the point where they even need to be prepared for a wild wild west shootout 24/7. Thats insane.
All these gun nuts want to live in the wild west, shoot outs in the streets. White hats shooting it out with the black hats like a cartoon. It's embarrassing.
I bet more people question attacking a Texas church after seeing how many are packing heat. It's called deterrence. This is unfortunately a side effect of a sick society and has little to do with guns or the NRA. It could have been machetes and the need for defense with a fire arm would still be present.
Actually people would like to not get shot. Having a firearm is a great way to stop it from happening. These were law abiding citizens doing the right thing. Shoot outs are the last thing responsible gun owners want.
You have fun defending yourself from a machete with your hands. A gun makes that task much easier. And no one should have to get sliced or shot, or blown up. This is bad all around.
If people would like not to get shot then we'd heavily license and regulate gun ownership and require insurance. We would not allow any doofus to go into Academy and come out with a AR15 in 10 minutes with thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Running away from a machete is much easier than running away form an AR15. It's math. I can assure you as a CHL holder, the first thing they teach you to do in an active shooter situation is to run, not to pull your gun and play Rambo.
Completely disagree. I can't get inside of the head of a mass murder, but I assume they assume they are going out in a blaze of glory when they walk in somewhere and start blasting away. I unfortunately was given the video of the New Zealand shooter, and watched as he basically was acting as though it was a Call of Duty. Nobody would play Call of Duty if nobody else had guns to shoot back at you. Again, I can't get in the head of a murder, but based on everything I've seen, going out in a blaze of glory is kind of the point. I don't think you'll see maniacs all the sudden stop from shooting up places now because they might get shot back at once in awhile.
Yeah, good luck. Edged-based attacks are fast. Someone would have gotten slashed and possibly killed in that church before the defensive efforts could be taken. Regardless, the gun is effective at stopping both.
I disagree. These people go to gun free zones in order to get a high kill count in order to built notoriety, otherwise they would attack police stations if they wanted an action scene and risk.
So you'd run and let that man shoot women and kids at a church? Maybe that is the training but man, that's cold stuff there. I think I'd kill myself for being a coward if I let that man blow away someone's kid or grandma. Or even those innocent men who got killed. Why have a gun if you are taught not to use it?
