    Always strange to me that Houston couldn’t score a pro hockey team

    Think you have to be willing to operate at a loss for a while. But buying into a major sports franchise at 300M is probably the steal of a lifetime. Hard to say given the league still has a barrier to fandom. There is room for growth. The league has some stars, but has never pushed the tin can over. Personal opinion is they somehow need to link team and player success to a fan's personal profitability. Give us a reason to watch.

    INB4 the arena is always empty and the team sucks and we find out it somehow cost taxpayers a sh*tton of money and that the owner is now looking for a new city.

    I may be referring to a different type of "coyote" than you.

    Dude you know this story

    @Jontro

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-interested-in-nhl-team-in-houston/107755004/

    "It's the fourth-largest city in the United States, which is interesting, but there hasn't ever been any interest because the (former) owner, Les Alexander, controlled the arena and never wanted a hockey team unless he owned it, but he was never prepared to acquire one," Bettman said. "He had no interest in having a hockey team owned by somebody else come into his arena, so there was never an opportunity to go there."

    I would love to see it. However, NHL games are the most expensive tickets of all major sporting events. Current Houston teams outside of the NFL only draw decent crowds if the team is good. The Texans currently are an exception to the rule, generally no matter how bad the NFL team is it will sell out in Houston. If you are moving the team or you have an Easterby then the exception can happen.

    I could see an NHL team doing well here, but the issue will be how does that team do when inevitably there are bad seasons? H-town fans have a tendency to check out when it's a lean year, and I don't know if the economics of an NHL team could support fan attendance similar to what the Astros endured in the early 2010's or the Rockets currently.

    That being said, it ain't my money. Give us a shot!

    Add no traffic as well…

    I’d actually think a team called the “Houston Traffic” would work pretty well.

    Any name is better than the "Texans." Good grief.
