Another big game in the emotional sense, but this time it has little to do with Bill Parcells. Emmitt Smith makes his return to Dallas in Cardinal red, which is a color I like when it comes to basketball btw. While he has spoken about his trash comments, I'm sure there will be some talk of it. In fact, Coakley has made it motivation, IIRC, though I believe Parcells has not made much of a deal out of it. Hambrick had a good game last week and having another today with Emmitt in the house would be great for him. I still like Emmitt, and while it would hurt the Dallas D ranking, I wouldn't mind if he got some good yardage against us...as long as we win. Seriously, he may put forth a good effort. He does seem to do well on the big stage still. Forgetting the whole Emmitt issue, the team needs to get to get a victory here in another "should win" game. We probably won't have too many of these, so we got to take them as we get them. Dallas is still the #1 ranked offense in the league and hopefully they can continue to keep it going. I expect that it will probably go down before long, but going from near last to 1st in 1 year would be great for the team. As with every week before and for all weeks to come, QC will have the spotlight on him. If he makes a mistake, anti-christ comments will be made. If he stays away from them and makes some great plays, we'll be seeing more reports on ESPN on how great he's doing. Hopefully, he can keep up the good play. The Cardinals won't be a pushover, though. IIRC, Parcells stressed about this to the team. The only terrible thing about Arizona is their turnovers. When they kept the ball in their hands, they did get their only win of the season, but every other game they haven't been doing so well. Ryan Young has practiced all week and I believe he is probable. While Vollers seemed to fill in nice last week, be nice to have the big fella back. Jason Whitten had a leg injury and may or may not play. He is the team's best special teams player, so they won't be so special without him. (hehe...I made that one up myself.) And finally Derek Ross, who's been cleared by docs for like 2 weeks but hasn't quite shown the confidence needed to play according to Parcells. I haven't read lately if Ross has shown it or not, so I guess he's a gametime decision. While Hunter played well last week, especially on that 4th and short play, Ross should help solidify the secondary. Does anybody else enjoy being over .500? Pretty sweet. Also, did anyone else know Eric Ogbogu is the guy on the "We must protect this house" commercial? Read that a couple days ago and was shocked. Never heard about it. I even wondered if the guy in the commercial was an actual NFL player or not. Weird to find out the answer was even closer than I thought.
Man, I'm pretty stupid, but I'm even stupider at 1 AM. Took me almost 12 hours to realize I put Jason Whitten instead of James Whalen. My bad on that. GAME TIME! WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE! mm...candy...yummy.
Another safety for the Cowboys D!!!!!! I can't remember 2 safeties in one game by anyone! Woohoo!!! .4 yards/carry Rush offense for Cardinals
YAY! Dallas is now #1 in the NFC East with the Redskin's lost to the Eagles. Man, first going over 500 and now this. Who'd uh thunk it? (is that how you spell it?) Maybe I should just switch to the Rockets this week and leave the Cowboys while they are at top. Seriously, the team is doing pretty good, but I don't want to jinx them. If they only win like 3 more games this year, that will be where most experts picked them to be at. But now, besides DET two weeks from now, the team has to begin playing the big dogs. So far, Parcells has shown they can beat teams they should, now let's see if they can beat teams we shouldn't. (may need more so that people won't say the Giants game was a fluke.) BTW, FYI Emmitt had only -1 yds today and that is the 1st time in his career to not have positive yards. (203 games). From what little I heard from Parcells after the game, he liked what QC did but he needs to improve his second and 3 reads. Also, Witten may have broken his jaw, I think. Hope I didn't jinx him by accidently saying it was him with the injury in my first post. I was wondering why the staff had a towel on his mouth. Hope it isn't serious. He's been playing pretty well lately. May have more info later after I read all the reports on this day of football.
Well, I hope it was worth seeing the man who carried your team to 3 Super Bowl rings cry after the game. As people know around here, I despise the Cowboys, but dammit, Emmitt Smith deserved better than this fate.
Man, I was at the game today and it was freaking awesome. Watching Emmitt get stuffed was so great, though I did feel sorry for him at the same time. Weird feelings. Q is still looking good. The offense kind of stalled in the second half, but I think that had a lot to do with LA getting hurt. Hambrick just couldn't find any holes after that. My throat is sore from all the yelling I did. Did the crowd come across as loud on TV? Compared to other Cowboys games I've been to this crowd was very raucous and into the game. It's been such a wonderful weekend...
I don't know about the other Cowboys fans, but I pretty much feel as you did. While I did want Emmitt to do well, sort of, it was nice to see Dallas pumped enough to not allow him to get anything. It was pretty sad watching him get hit and get nothing, though. I rememeber seeing that last hit on him and just wishing it didn't have to be this way. Yeah, I was a little worried about the O as well in the 2nd half. The only thing I could think of is they tried being more conservative and eat up the clock, but I don't think they really started that until the 4th qtr. I read somewhere that Bill Parcells thanked the crowd because they helped the team. He knows how hard it is to be that visiting team and the crowd definitly impacted the game...or something like that. Basically, good job JebberD! I heard that Witten did have a broken jaw, or so it seems. He was still bleeding in the locker room after the game. Hope he is ok. Not sure how long he could be out. Kind of wish the Cowboys offense could score more TD's that safeties.
Well, if Emmitt was getting any blocking from his offensive line, then maybe he wouldn't have been smothered every time he touched the ball. His offensive line was playing as if they were a bunch of freshman going up against the seniors. I didn't see any of their other running backs fair much better until much later in the game when it was already decided.
