Should we be start to be concerned about Ariza's attitude on this team? He seems to have tried and emulate some of Kobe's bad habits without being anywhere his level of ability. Elbows thrown for no reason, on-court yelling antics, etc. The one thing I always hated about Kobe is how much of a jerk he is but I couldn't deny his talent level. Can't say the same for Ariza though. He doesn't have the ability or the real toughness to back it up. So should we have concern about this developing trend in his attitude or is he just having a few bad moments?
Honestly, I didn't know he had this attitude of his. I thought he was a cool person who wouldn't express either way.
Well, if you can only suck and drag your team down so much until you finally lose it! Unless Ariza starts shooting 70% from 3pt range, expect a lot more of these irregular outbursts during the season.
It is really quite surprising. However, Im still giving him the benefit of the doubt because tonight, he had a reason to get mad. The Toronto incident was probably (and hopefully) a one-time thing.
This is a big deal to me. Feigen twittered about it also and it sounds like it was worse in person than on TV. Even before his little tantrum I noticed he has been place a gear slower than the rest of the team. I see Lowry, Battier, Hayes, Scola, Landry etc. going after loose balls and rebounds like they are possessed. Meanwhile, Trevor does his thing, gives respectable effort, but nothing like the rest of the squad. Even McGrady came in and gave the type of effort that came close to matching everyone else. It make Trevor look that much worse.
Didn't Brooks start stopping and popping instead of going in the crowd after that? Seems like Brooks listened and maybe it was constructive criticism. As long as no one on the team feels they are above criticism I think it's healthy. So Ariza better not have a problem if a teammate does the same to him.
no, he had been stopping and popping all game, but Marion was on him during this shot. A stop and pop probably would not have worked on a guy with his length. I trust that Aaron knows what he is doing much moreso than Ariza
Im also surprised by Ariza's overall attitude. Maybe Morey and Adelman gave him to much of a star treatment and he's starting to act like one..
it could be just something that was in the heat of the game...i mean frustrations had to have been high just losing a 10 point lead in 2 minutes now possibly losing the game. i wasnt going to think much of it but then in OT there was a play where the clock was running down and ariza wanted the ball back from Brooks and AB drove and hit a 16-17 ft jumper. If you watch ariza he acts pretty upset and like sort of kicks up "dust" with his leg in frustration ...luckily AB made the shot. i think Ariza wants a chance to prove himself in the last-sec type situations. at least in the 4 I can think of including last night AB had the ball (portland, lakers, gsw) all the time and really only the gsw when he got the foul call was there good results. maybe ariza feels he has a better chance being able to create a shot? i dunno
Good point there friend. Ariza should know his role in the team. I really hope it's a one time thing but if comparisons should be made, it should be AB that should be yelling over him
Better one on one player than Brooks? I don't think he is. I'd give the ball to Brooks, T-Mac or Scola before I hand it over to Ariza for a clutch time play.
Well Ariza has something nobody else has on this team... a championship ring. That's probably why he feels he can talk like that but talent wise he is still a role player.
Yeah I remember seeing that play. Ariza wanted the ball and when he saw Brooks taking the shot, he just started walking the other way.
He makes many layups, but late in the game teams are not going to give those up, he needs to go to the stop and pop more often... DD
