Ariza is a much better player spotting up and SHOOTING the ball.

He won't really be a player to set up our team. He WILL not have those handles to get where he WANTS on the court.

McGrady would easily be able to find a cutting Trevor Ariza. We just need to hope McGrady gets to 100% and STAYS healthy the entire season.

He also is REALLY good at running the court. With a playmaker like McGrady, I can see many alley oops (A McGrady to Ariza connection).

I will NOT doubt his defense but with McGrady, he will be REALLY effective as the 3 man.

A McGrady-Ariza combo WILL be great as long as both (obviously) can stay on the court.

I don't know if that's the case, because we don't know what McGrady will be like when he returns to the court.

I do agree that Ariza would be more comfortable with a No. 1 scorer. That much is a given.

But he shouldn't get too comfortable with the idea that he can settle in once T-Mac gets back, because T-Mac's Rockets days are numbered.

I have to agree with this. The same thing I was thinking... Ariza hasn't been an offensive option on any of his teams.. he was a role player... sorta like Battier. He's much more effective at spotting up and making 3's and cutting without the ball and receiving a pass rather than driving to the basket himself. That's why him and Kobe really jelled last season... Kobe always found him whenever Trevor cut to the basket.

He is trying too hard, but I think the honest answer is if everyone is healthy they ALL are better with TMac, as long as he is not dominating the ball.

I don't think Tracy ever dominates the ball DD.... If he does, it's because he has to... because we don't have anyone else to go to.

I think we all know Ariza can be a spot up shooter role player.

I just want to see how high his potential is.... Can he become a scorer?

find it hard to believe that he will be more effective with mcgrady than he was with kobe.

he definantly won more with kobe than he ever will with tmcgrady

    You're right.

He couldn't be any less effective than he is now.

Yeah i he will be better, but so will everyone else!!

i just think Ariza needs to slow down and just relax, I think his rushing everything, just trying to hard

I think he will be a lot better when he starts to get more comfortable and more familiar with the offense....and thats what the pre-season is for!!! :D

*In before the McGrady Hate* :)

And yea......I don't see how Ariza can be any worse on offensive. He is stinking it up right now.

He should stick to what he did in Lakerland. Fast break and spot up 3's

Part of the reasons he came to Houston was because he believed he can do more than he was asked in Lakers. Give the guy some more time to adjust. He is playing with a totally different mindset now. He is going to make mistakes here and there, become more aggressive than he need to be sometimes. What I believe he need to do now is to develop a few "go to moves" and start from there. Obviously he's not good enough now to create any where any time on the floor. Why not just get started at some certain spots. With his length and athleticism I can see him become very effective at posting up smaller players. He can also try to catch and shoot. Anyways I believe he has lots of potential in a half court setting. Be patient.
