Also for someone who criticized fiat currency the dollar is still a fiat currency.

Wow -- back to back freedom-loving politicians elected in ARGENTINA and HOLLAND. Illegal immigration and forced multi-culturalism as a model are being questioned by even these countries. If our elections in the USA were held today, Trump would win by massive margins -- well outside of the margin of cheat that will be needed to overcome the liberals' voting fraud tactics of ballot box stuffing and turning in ballots for non-voters.

If you look at demographic maps of major US cities, most racial/ethnic groups tend to live alongside one another. Whites live with whites, blacks live with blacks, Mexicans live alongside Mexicans, etc. This is what people naturally prefer. Why mess with it? When politicians try to disrupt this by force feeding their desired demographic model onto the populace, it's rejected. This shouldn't be a surprise. Eric Adams in NYC spoke out against it and now he's in the process of being taken out by the state. Remember, all of state-promoted illegal immigration is to stimulate economic growth and avoid deflation. Inflation is necessary to devalue our nation's crippling level of debt. If our birth rates were higher, none of these immigration efforts would be pursued. Elon Musk is spot on there.

"do no physical harm except in defense" is a basic libertarian tenet, and it's simple to argue that abortion is harming another individual

But not the fiat of the government of Argentina. Buenos Aires cannot just print more dollars, to them a dollar is a commodity like oil or gold.
I did read the article and your post and responded to it directly. That the Libertarian Party takes a non-interventionist stance on abortion doesn't make that the only tenable libertarian position under the principles of libertarianism, and I explained why.

    Good point.

So instead of having a fiat currency of their own they've just surrendered their fiscal sovereignity to the US Federal Reserve.

Anyway if Milei was so anti fiat currency why not just peg the Argentinian Peso to the Gold Standard or Bitcoin.

he doesn't need to peg to gold/bitcoin, just make them legal tender to compete with the peso

the dollar is the least bad of all the fiat currencies, so pegging to that initially makes sense as a first step

It’s the largest fiat currency but as you have frequently noted it is still a fiat currency and yourself and others have frequently criticized the Federal reserve regarding its manipulation of it.

Maybe Milei recognizes that using gold or bitcoin actually isn’t a good solution but is trusting the full faith and credit of the US fiat currency is more stable.

USD is a fiat currency for the US, but not necessarily for Argentina (or any other country that uses USD AND has a smaller economy). The issue is when a country can inflate away its own debt. For Argentina, switching to the USD is very good.

Pegging is pointless in the long run...it seems people forget WTF Happen in 1971 meme. Even if Argentina has a USD standard, the next regime can switch over night. Central digital currency can be confiscated at any moment.

The grand problem is the pro-statist always default to the quickest solution that is always born out of panic instead of a steady long haul solution. It almost ALWAYS geared towards a solution that will most likely keep the incumbent in power.

He doesn't need to impose a particular solution, just make all the options legal tender and see how it plays out.

Of course, it did - we saw the same thing with the George Floyd and BLM marches/riots..... and then we saw it when the MAGA idiots breeched the Capitol.

Most people want to keep the "social order" in place, especially when it comes with violence.

Jews and Christians have certainly been ethnically cleansed in the Middle East by Muslims.

The small pockets of populations in the region that lack their own country have often been harassed and pushed out or murdered.

Islam, at least Islam as exists in many parts of the Middle East is not very tolerant of different religious beliefs or cultures.

Having said that - Israel, has historically not been very tolerant to non-Jews either ....... there are practical reasons for that (at least in part), but it is still factual.

I would FAR rather be an ethnic or religious minority in North America, South America, Western Europe and parts of Asia, than I would in the Middle East or the more Islamic heavy Far East.

There are certainly truths in some of what he says...... but the same can be said for the Marxists and the National Socialist German Workers Party.

When you have a collapse, like what has happened in Argentina, and you have an educated population, and both sides of the political spectrum fail - you start to see more extremists on both sides emerge.

I can certainly see the appeal of Milei - he is a bright man, he is charismatic and he is very sure of himself and he is openly promising radical changes to a people that want radical changes.

I have become very skeptical of these types of people on both sides of the political spectrum. I remember all the extreme leftists claiming that Hugo Chavez was wonderful after some short term success, when really he was just a dictator. The election of Jair Bolsonaro and initial success he had in Brazil resulted in far right extremists proclaiming him great and now he isn't even eligible to run again for almost another decade.

Apologies for not explicitly explaining that Javier Milei's stance on abortion infers that he will push for laws banning it which makes it untenable.

you are making the inference. his stance implies that which you infer.

    hope this helps.

although in this instance "suggests" probably works better than "implies".

Laws banning abortion are not untenable under a libertarian philosophy, any more than laws against murder or battery. The legitimate purpose of a state under libertarianism is to protect the people from their person or property being violated by another. In the case of abortion, the state would be protected the child's person from being violated by the mother, doctor, or anyone else involved. Your claim is based on what some libertarians think, and the Libertarian Party of the United States. That doesn't preclude other equally (or more) valid libertarian viewpoints.
