While I do laud this guy's positions on drug legalization and prostitution as well as restrictions on immigration of criminals (to an extent), it seems like he's all about theory over practice and history when it comes to firearm deregulation, pure unchecked capitalism, non-mandatory vaccination and anti-socialism, which we see works very well in Europe. His anti-abortion stance is not tenable and at odds with Libertarian ideals. Reduction of government can be a good or bad thing; it's more about checks and balances against corruption and spending.

 

There's truth in his guttural speeches.

People obviously want to give him a chance, so let's see how he reacts whenever there's a failure in policy. Most good people when they fail fail gracefully while under public ire, and the odds are stacked against him here...

 

He certainly will have his chance and maybe things will work out great with Argentina. That said he seems to be one of those who use a lot of buzzwords, troll ideological opponents and substitute attitude for capability. I can definitely see his appeal among many in the US.

 

Pro-life and libertarianism are not at odds. A large number of libertarians are pro-life, viewing abortion as a violation of the non-aggression principle.

That is the Libertarian Party's position, but it doesn't represent all libertarians. For anyone who believes an abortion kills an innocent human life (like some of the quotes in the article indicate) the position that taking that life is wrong and should be prevented is entirely the libertarian position, just as stopping and/or punishing murder would be. It isn't at all fake or authoritarian to focus on individual rights, including the rights of the most vulnerable. Sorry no one ever taught you that.
