MadMax posted an article about the "state of baseball" anyway it got me thinking about going out the last five nights to bars and seeing everyone watching football every night and then the baseball game(s) being on small screns with little to no fan fare. So are you watching the baseball playoffs?
I'm flipping to check in and if there's nothing else on, I'll watch it. I've probably been watching 3 or 4 innings worth of most games in this playoff.
See I find myself doing the same thing and I consider myself a huge baseball fan but these days I will take a college or pro football game over a playoff baseball game that is not either in the world series or if the Stros are in it. I never miss basketball or football playoffs or even big NCAA bowl games and the NCAA tourny.
I watched a few innings of the Yankees Indians extra innings game. I check the score then move on. Thank goodness for the score strip.
Your poll is flawed because the Astros aren't in the playoffs and it is very doubtful that we have so many hardcore baseball fans that would watch the playoffs, no matter who is in it. But yes - I am watching and would be watching even if Boston isn't in it. Nothing is greater, IMO, than October baseball.
Same here, once your favorite teams are out of the MLB playoffs, theres no incentive to keep watching. My yankees finally gave in yesterday, and once the Diamondbacks give in too, i don't think i'll watch nemore. Basketball and NCAA football on the other hand, ill watch almost every game! Its just the atmosphere with college football, its absolutely amazing and intoxicating. Its like do or die every game for the top teams. For those of you who have not watched a college football game or a BCS bowl game, go for it, you will not regret it!
when the texans are 3-2, baseball seems meaningless to me. 3-2!!! I have tuned in for the rockies games, though
I watched the dallas vs bills game last night over the Yankees and Indians game because football just seems to be non stop action as apposed to sitting around waiting for the next pitch while the camera men zoom in to the coaches, players faces. I mean baseball gets interesting but to me it seems to have more downtime than uptime. (If that makes sense)
I'm watching on occasion. Probably won't watch an entire game unless it's Game 7 of the World Series. I am pulling for the Rockies, though, because of the Mike Coolbaugh thing.
I'm watching the bottom of the 9th for all the games, assuming there's no extra innings. I'll watch high school football before I watch an entire baseball game that doesn't involve the Astros.
voted Yes... but it's similar. I'll watch a few innings of most games. More if it's interesting or if nothing else is on.
I'll watch if there is nothing else on. When my GF is over, if the Indians are playing, it will be on. She grew up in Cleveland.
I'm watching. But the strength of baseball's growth isn't in national television ratings. It's in the value in each local market for each franchise. It's more akin to college football that way. Very regional per each team.
I watched the NYY series. Probably won't watch many more games. Depends on what is on TV that night. Never really watched a lot of baseball outside of the Stros
Normally don't follow baseball (like I do basketball), except for occasional playoffs. Watched the Yankees series. Probably won't be watching anymore. ps. I did catch the last Red Sox game.. Boston got a solid team, and not bad too watch. Although I am very indifferent towards them
I agree but unlike college football the baseball playoffs just dont seem to grab the nation's attention. I know I would still watch every second of South Florida vs BC if that was the non-sexy national title game.
