Did anybody catch this show on Fox last week? It came on three times I believe. I'm 26 and I answered all the questions correctly and my mother and her friends were just amazed. I was amazed that adults did not actually know the answer to these simplistic questions. Did anybody else catch the show? Thoughts?
I missed it but Astro told me he was depressed that so many people were stupid.....or at least not smarter than him. On the other hand, it's not suprising since the average reading level is the 8th grade.
I was about to start a thread on this monstrosity. dumbest... game show... ever... My first thought is that these people are actors, but then I realized that this is America, and there are some real dumbasses out there. My guess is they do some serious background checking on these people to make sure they pick the creme de la creme of the stupid people out there.
I'll beat a 5th graders ass, how bout you put that on TV. "let me ask ya this! let me ask ya this!....can you whoop, MY ass!?"
Sorry, but I think that goes to DEAL OR NO DEAL. That is the dumbest game EVER. I like this show. I couldnt believe the woman answered Mexico to "What country has the longest border with the US?"
It's funny because my little brother is going to 5th grade next year and I'm still smarter than he is. He could kick my ass though.
Haven't seen the show yet, but 5th graders are on average a lot dumber these days than back when I was in 5th grade. I don't know if it's the 'idiocracy' effect of too many stupid people breeding or if it's some kind of environmental problem or what.
I disagree, I think elementary school education has been pretty consistent over the years. It's Middle School and High School where educational standards are falling apart.
The show is r****ded, but interesting. Definitely a show that producers weed out actually intelligent people. The question I saw that made me want to jump through the TV and punch someone was "how many decades are in 2 millenia."
I don't think it is a question of smart or stupid. It's just a question of distance between the time you studied that subject. I know some doctors who can barely spell their own names and friends who are incredibly well read, but don't do long division well. And I'm guessing all of you keep up with your American and World History on a daily basis? It's a matter of usable knowledge. I don't need to rattle off the capitals to every state anymore. If I need them, I just use the internet. But, I can remember the chords and arrangements to virtually every song I've ever had to learn. It's just selective memory. Besides, my mind is too busy remembering Seinfeld and Simpsons quotes.
I saw that and my first response was to take her out back and shoot her in the head. That was embarrassing. How can you not know that? It boggles the mind. It must have been a joke and she wanted to use the answer of the fifth grader she picked.
Like Jeff said....its not about being stupid or smart. You learn so much new information that most of the times you will forget the old information you learned like 10 years ago
At least Deal or No Deal doesn't require any actual intelligence. It's just luck with some risk taking. You can be dumb as a brick and still win a million bucks.
Thats why deal or no Deal is so stupid, it take no intelligence or skill, and its more boring. This show, you at least need the intelligence of a 5th grader/
