Realistically we will be out by the 2nd round. No way we get through the Warriors unless 3/4 of the stars get hurt. Harden will not win the mvp at this point. So, no championship, no mvp...are you ok with blowing it up? Maybe start re building around James, or maybe even trading James for an younger star or some high picks. This team, in my opinion, will never compete for the ring. James gunning for that trophy was all I had to look forward to. I'm at the stage where I'm ok blowing it up tbh
Are you ok with not making stupid r****ded dumbA** threads??? Or are you ok with thinking just for a second that this team is not that far away from being contenders for the next 3-6 years with Harden at the helm. Go away.
Word of advice OP, wait until AFTER the playoff drubbing to make a thread like this. Otherwise, frankly, you should be banned.
Bad BAD approach. If early 90's Rockets followed that impulsive melodramatic mode of thinking, they'd have blown the team up after '92-93 for not advancing past Seattle. Or for thinking Jordan's Bulls is "too much" to overcome. Or Hakeem fighting with management for years. Or for not hitting on any of their bad draft picks. Or for Rockets looking to sell to new owner through all that. Or for FAILING to even MAKE the playoffs entirely Hakeem, Thorpe, Maxwell, Kenny were the Rockets core for 5-6 seasons before finally winning it all. And it took hiring from within with Rudy to make that happen, they didnt go find some outside splashy name coach. Even the "Bad Boy" Pistons had to wait a while through all the Lakers/Celtics dynasties to get theirs. Though its a different era of basketball with different systems and different mindsets, it still takes some timing and incremental progress to win. '04 Lakers and '11 Heat was supposed to crush everyone, but they lost to cohesive teams. At least wait until the PLAYOFFS START AND FINISH before assessing blowups
Well, Golden State has 5 future Hall of fame players on their team right now and four of them are under the age of 30. San Antonio also has five of them but only two of them are under age 30 (Leonard, Aldridge). Cleveland has a top 5 best player of all time in Lebron James, and two other future HOF players in Irving and Love (if he can stay healthy). James Harden has ZERO future HOF teammates right now. He also has new teammates and a brand new coach and has led his team to the third best record in the entire NBA this season. Will the Rockets be favored to win against Golden State or San Antonio? Of course not, nor should they be. Does that mean we should blow up the team, though? Of course not. The OP is an idiot. Give James Harden some hall of fame teammates? The Rockets are instant champions. Put Curry on a team without any HOF teammates? He becomes a non factor.
I get the point of your post, and you are correct. However, most of you ultra-homer types weren't conceding a guaranteed loss to SA or GSW until harden **** the bed last week....
We have consistantly not get high draft picks in the past. Top 5 draft picks or Top 8. Harden is the only guy that was a former no. 3 pick but he was shaped greatly by OKC. I cannot say we have really rebuild from scratch until they get high Top 5 draft picks. Period. I would not say now but at some point in future they should do it instead of hanging around waiting for stars that other teams drop.
I'm still not conceding a guaranteed loss to SA or GSW. So, nothing has changed much for me. I'm far from a homer, but I'm also far from being a miserable cynic. But whatever, **** it man. I don't care to even post on these forums anymore to be honest with you.
why stop? you are an intelligent poster! I am not going to argue with you, I am a cynic. The miserable part is debatable though. I am one of those fans that sits back in my armchair and criticizes my team when they **** up. It eases the pain of defeat..... I just can't get behind the defense this team plays, I'm sorry.
I like our core, but there are obviously glaring holes which need to be addressed (better defense on the wings and backup guard positions, rebounding and size in the frontcourt, post-defense, consistent 3pt shooting). Really no need to blow this up though, this squad has proven to be top 5 and is a solid foundation for the future. What I want to see in the off-season is us signing a true big, a defensive-minded backup guard and some solid 3&d material.
A team that has the 3rd seed in the west (and possibly the 3rd best record in the league) should "blow it up"? No doubt they're going to have to make some moves to improve the team moving forward but "blow it up"? You might think about blowing up your moniker first.
