What do you think of HCR? I think it sucks. It helps the insurance companies, and I guess some people. I love how the republicans say that this bill is bad for america. They are right it is bad for America, but they stopped at nothing to get to this point. I am sad I voted for Obama. I wish he would actually do the things he promised to do. The next time when we want real health care reform they will point to this bill and say look how it turned. Do you really want the government running healthcare.
Republicans succeeded. They won. If this passes, it's gonna be a complete f***ing disaster and they'll campaign about it. If it doesn't, they're gonna campaign on Obama failing to pass a bill. If it wasn't for the pu$$y Democrats and Obama, we wouldn't be in this situation right now. They let those ignorant racist tea-partiers have their way with them: first they compromised single payer and got to Public option, now they compromised the public option, and now we're left with a $h!t bill that only forces people to have insurance ===> more money for insurance companies. No public option, no competition, nothing to force insurance companies to lower their prices. It just forces me and fellow uninsured citizens who are barely making it in this rough economy to actually buy insurance whether we like it or not, which will probably be useless to us anyways. congrats Barack, you have lost this faithful supporter. It's damn sad that I took so much crap and staunchly defended every move he made in hopes of him delivering on his promises. Turns out it's all damn politics all over again. We might have as well let McCain win, afterall, he would've probably done the same thing: NOT deliver a good healthcare bill, NOT withdraw from Iraq or afghanistan, NOT close guantanamo, and INCREASE the number of troops (and don't forget UNCHECKED private contractors) in both wars. But he probably wouldn't have won a nobel prize for it. /rant
^^^ Let's be very honest about what this is about. It's not about bashing Democrats... this is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up!
At this point, it appears the Democrats are going to pass something just to pass something. That's unfortunate. The original bill with the public option was a solid one that I would support, but it's been hacked to pieces by agenda-driven politicians and is a shell of what it should actually be.
Here we go ... blaming the Republicans. It was the democrats who nixed the Public Option. It was your own people. The democrats have majority ... there is NO excuse. You can not blame the republicans. Nice try thought.
Pretty sure there's a lot more anger directed to Democrats then Republicans here. It's like you're running a broken tape record. "Your people". hillllarious
I am fairly happy with getting some regulations passed that needed to be passed. Insurance companies will not be able to deny for preexisting conditions, charge more for women than for men, or pass on too many out of pocket expenses. I agree that single payer or a public option would have helped this bill dramatically, but (please listen to this carefully, especially you Democrats) Obama did not campaign or run on single payer or a public option. He didn't demand or promise these things during the joint session of Congress and I don't understand how you can now hold him "accountable" for a promise he never made. There are a number of ways this bill could be better, but this is the most sweeping healthcare reform act in four decades. It will help to insure over 30 million people who do not currently have health insurance. And, it will do this while only raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans. I know that a bill is palatable when the hardcore elements of the Democrats and also the GOP are b****ing about it. That means that the result was somewhere in the middle, where it probably should have been in the first place.
I don't care about promises. All politicans are liars. Bush certainly didn't promise 9/11, Iraq or Afgan. Its what the president does in office that is the issue. Obama is at the front of the pack trying to get this bill passed. He is doing everything in this power to get a bill passed, regardless of what is in it.
Not that I don't blame a few of the blue dog idiots like Baucus and Conrad for this mess - but this is some really good basso math you are applying here. 40 Republicans + a few blue dogs and Loserman oppose the public option = It was all the democrats fault. This argument tacitly concedes that the reason why the Republicans bear no responsibility, as they have neither the desire nor the ability to govern. Which is sadly true as it involves messy unglamorous problems and many times, government based solutions , which they oppose on principle no matter if it is good or bad.
you probably should have voted for mccain if you wanted healtcare reform. yeah, obama should have just passed this bill himself and not even gone through that legilative process outlined by the constitution.
Look what Obama is trying to do by having the EPA regulate CO2 emissions. He knows he cannot get cap and trade passed, so he is trying to do an end run around Congress. Do you really believe that Obama would be averse to trying this same approach with healthcare if the thought he could get away with it? Of course not.
This post is addressed to the individual posting as Clutchfans.net user "MojoMan" Considering that you have previously argued that the President does not have the power to negotiate international treaties, your postulations as to the power of the Executive branch need to be taken with a BUCKET OF LULZ.
Do I like weak, ineffectual handjobs? Not when I was expecting to get laid, or at the very least, an adequate BJ.
I would have assumed that his comment was directed towards PointForward. HCR was losing momentum, Congress felt desperate to pass something, and this is what we get. The Senate failed in my view, but who didn't see this coming?
I don't know where you got your expectations, then. It certainly wasn't from anything that Obama promised.
I dream, too. I would love to see a single payer system, but the harsh reality is that many people will have to see the current system get worse before they will get out of the way to let it get better.
