I studied to be an actor and that's what I'm doing. Although I still have a day job (because acting doesn't pay the bills yet). But I am working on what I love most. Going to auditions, meeting agents, doing a little TV and a few films, lots of theater. Hopefully one day I will be able to completely support myself just on acting. What about you? Are you doing what you want to do? If not, why? And if you could do what you really want to do, what would that be? ------------------ 'Deeds, not words, shall speak me.'
Absolutely. I quit the jobs I hated a number of years ago and haven't looked back. My wife and I now own our own business and I have a second business with a partner playing, writing and recording music. I love my jobs! ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
mcmark, Just wondering...have I seen you in anything? Also, met any celebrities? ------------------ Nederland 2002 Rocketman95 on board. Check out his latest game recaps.
Ace, probably not. I've only had one nice speaking role in a film that got national release. Called "The Trust". I've done tons of "don't blink or you'll miss it" extra roles (about 12 films). I was a regular on a TV series about 5 years ago called "New York News" with Mary Tyler Moore. Shot 13 episodes but got cancelled due to bad ratings. Damit! I did tons of theater around Houston before I moved to NYC in '93. As for celebrities Yeah, I've met and worked with many. To embarrassed to name them though. ------------------ 'Deeds, not words, shall speak me.'
I would say I'm doing what I LIKE to do... work with computers, helping folks at work (I'm the I.S. guy) but of course what I really want to be doing is working out of my home doing my own thing... learn to do some real webpage stuff and graphics... one of these days... rH ------------------ The Psychedelic Groove House of Rockets Basketball Love! Sad to say, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I've got a stack of books that promised to help me uncover my true mission in life. They always want me to go back to when I was young and think about what I really wanted to be before society told me otherwise. Unfortunately, what I really wanted to be was either Wonder Woman, a ballerina or the wife of Underdog. For some reason those don't seem to help me much today. ------------------
Congratulations mc mark. I myself am definitely not doing what I want to do. Just working to make money. If you've seen the movie Office Space, I have career aspirations similar to the main character, Peter Gibbons. He had a "dream of doing nothing".
Sounds like a full time job. Come on freak. I know you aspire to greatness. How would you change the world? ------------------ 'Deeds, not words, shall speak me.' [This message has been edited by mc mark (edited January 25, 2001).]
Do you work in the p*rn industry? I'm 28 and working in a financially rewarding industry, but I still don't think this is what I want to do when I grow up. I guess I'm waivering between being comfortable and feeling like I've sold out. I saw an old friend from school over Christmas, and she actually called me on it. Pretty burly.
I absolutely love my job . I'm a web developer, make good money, and do my job very well. Even if I hated it, I'm not the type to bounce from job to job trying to find my niche in today's job market. I need stability, good benefits, and good pay first. That is why I chose computers....easy path to the money. Easy money. And nobody phucks wit you! Surf ------------------
LOL!!! Achebe let your imagination run wild. What do you dream about doing? Its all in fun! No politics today. ------------------ 'Deeds, not words, shall speak me.'
You know what I'd do with a million dollars? I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd do two women at the same time, man. Actually, I love what I do. There's nothing I love more than going to the movies, and being a movie reviewer really helps me do the thing I really love (outside of watching the Rockets). ------------------ "He was under more balls than a midget hooker."-Bobby Hill visit www.swirve.com, coming January 20th, the top 10 films of 2000! and, http://www.geocities.com/clutch34_2000 for great Rocket insight by some of your fellow BBS posters!
Well, I have not graduated yet, but am getting a degree in Computer Science, the only reason being that this area is where my skills lie. But it has occurred to me, only recently, that I would simply love to write Science Fiction for a living. I have serious doubts that I will ever reach this lofty goal, because I am not that great of a writer, by I am trying. ------------------ "Of course, everything looks bad if you remember it!" Absolutely!! I love my work... I would like to run for public office one day...I don't expect your vote, Jeff!!! But when you want to build a new arena in 35 years to keep the Rockets here again, let me know! You know I'll support it! ------------------
Great post, mc! I am a little in limbo right now. I had previously worked in an art gallery - after getting an art history/studio art degree. It was kind of what I wanted to do (because it related to art) but not really (because it involved the selling of art and it was mostly to very wealthy people who had no taste or intelligence). That job went bye bye. I am still young enough to be able to continue my graduate work, though...so that is my future - PhD in art history so that I can finally fulfill my longtime goal - to be a college professor. So, I start back up in fall 2001. Achebe, Notice e said he has only had one real speaking part in a movie. That means he has been a lot of "fantasy lover #2" ------------------ Big A, little a bouncing B, The System might have got you, but it won't get me.
You need a million dollars to do this? RR that is excellent! Don't stop! Have you finnished any short stories or novels? ------------------ 'Deeds, not words, shall speak me.'
Damn, why did you have to bring this up. As I examine the landscape of my life, I'm still not playing enough bridge or having enough sex. Although I am probably placing my expectations at unreachable heights. But, on the bright-side, I have successfully accomplished my dream of developing a perfectly useless hobby centered around talking rabidly about the NBA. And I have found the perfect bar....actually, when I think about, I have found the perfect bar over and over. So, all-in-all, I can't really complain. The Unbearable Lightness of Being may still happen to me.
When I was a kid, I just wanted to be a great scientist. Now I'm debating about going back to school for either: a) environmental law b) film studies c) paleobiology. ------------------ I've been reading movies since 3 o'clock..
Oh, come on mcmark. You can tell us about seeing, ahem, a certain part of Aniston's body (if I recall correctly-- I wasn't focusing much on that thread but caugh something that sounds similar) but you can't tell us who you've worked with? Achebe, What are you doing for a living at the moment? I always think that I should not give myself the luxury of doing what I want to do, but should rather go into the field which will give me the financial security I want. How is your situation panning out? I recently graduated from High School, and now have some time off (till September). In the meantime, I hope to have some fun and learn a bit more about web development and perhaps explore that option. ------------------ Nederland 2002 Rocketman95 on board.
