First Clapper- In a crowd, one who first begins the clap. This person usually is a leader with a bold personality. Has potential to be political or a business leader. Second Clapper- A crowd participant who usually waits for someone else to begin clapping. A follower usually. A meeker personality. Does not like to stand out. Accountants, clerks, medical doctors, financial analysts are career paths for second clappers. No Clapper- A crowd participant who does not clap whatsoever. This person is usually a hater. What are you?
I'm a first clapper, but I clap slow and meaningful like the big jock in Can't Buy Me Love. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/10uUTCwLyMs&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/10uUTCwLyMs&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I'm a first clapper. I sometimes end up clapping out-of-place, like clapping for a fast break that ends up in a blown lay-up, clapping for a good stop by a shortstop who then throws the ball away, or clapping for a song that's not quite over. I'm a pretty expressive guy, though, so I doubt whether I could ever be a second clapper.
At Bayern Munich football matches, I have sponsor seats, yet I act like someone in the standing seats (sort of like a "red rowdy"). I get weird looks for that... I'm often a first clapper. It's only weird when the others don't follow...but if you're persistent and convincing enough, they will. Just never clap on a plane.
I was downtown walking to my bus stop yesterday and some homeless guy stood up and started clapping for me for no apparent reason. I said 'thank you very much sir' and went on my way. I'm pretty sure he was a first clapper.
this thread reminds me of the scene in American Pie 2 where the lead character is playing the trombone at band camp.
I first caught the clap in the fifth grade, from a little elementary school ho that was screwing everybody!
