I really want to know how many people here still believe we're going to make the playoffs with the way we have been playing of late...I really would have expected the rockets to be taking it up a few notches and really bringing it after the allstar break... I can't watch the games from here so I really can't say what's happening but it seems like we really are falling short on the basketball smarts from our coach to our small guard and maybe even our power forwards... I really think we should be considering a large large trade with francis and yao as the only keepers...
The Rockets will NOT make the playoffs this year unless: [1] The Jazz, Timberwolves, and/or Suns suffer an injury to a key player (Malone, Stockton, Garnett, Szcerbiak, Marbury, Marion, Stoudemire) and the Rockets do not; and/or, [2] The Rockets trade for somebody like Elton Brand and Marko Jaric for Eddie Griffin and Cuttino Mobley (or some other value creating trade at the PF and PG/SG spots). Otherwise, the rest of the season should be directed at developing a new offense and working together as a team. They may even want to acquire a new coach to help the transition to next season.
I'd love to see us make the playoffs, especially since we don't even apparently have a first round draft pick next year, but it's not going to happen in all likelyhood.
I do not believe we will make the playoffs this year, if you had asked me a couple of weeks ago I would have said yes with no hesitation. I agree with what someone else had stated earlier. We won't make it unless one of those teams suffers a key injury or we make a pretty big trade. Pugs
two things must happen for the rox to make the playoff: 1. the suns play to their abilities in the second half. they have overachieved in the first half of the season. 2. the rox need to play better in close games and MUST beat inferior teams -- non-playoff teams.
i take a quote from espn : "the rockets will be the team that will drop out of the playoff spot for the Lakers..why? one: too often does steve francis and cuttino mobley plays one on one, two: they needs to give Yao more touches, there's many possibilities for a basket when Yao touches the ball, and three: play together, be consistent together, one night steve is on fire, but cuttino ends up with a shooting slump night, or Yao has a monster game but steve ends up with a shooting slump night..." i just wish they would make the playoff then lose..and comes out next year beating up everybody like the Mavs..that's what happened to them last year..and look at them now.. but in my opinion..i think the rockets should lose ALL of their remaining games and have a chance at the lottery AGAIN..and pick a power forward that would be consistent...or pursue tim duncan...
Too soon to tell...I am still hoping they make it. But a lot can happen with an entire half of a season.
its just a slump. if we get back on track in time, we'll make it. i think the suns are most probably going to fall out. i still dont see how theyve made it to the point theyre at right now. it wont last long.
Um, let's see...NO FRICKIN WAY!!!! Not with our current coach and starting lineup. Either Cat has to go to the bench and have Boki as the starting 2 guard, or Cat needs to be traded for someone who actually has a B-ball I.Q. of more than 50!! I stated after the Rockets impressive win over the Lakers that I feared the Rockets would go through a 3-10 slump that would effectively eliminate them from the playoffs. Well, since that time, we have 3 wins and 8 losses (including losses to Chicago and Cleveland). Now we have 19 games left on the road, where we are an abysmal 7 and 15. This team is going nowhere except for maybe a trip to the Emerald City where they can ask the Wizard of Oz for: A brain (for Rudy) A conscience (for Cat) And some balls (for the whole team)
