Are we just gonna pretend that Randy Bullock isn't still our kicker?

One could argue that Bullock's struggles really only cost the Texans the Colts game, unless one considers a blocked FG in the first half of an eventual 3 point loss "game costing". His other really bad game was an eventual win in OT. He didn't miss the last 7 games of the season.

He was in the middle of the pack in kickoff return yardage, but the average starting position ranked in the lower third (in a bad way), but that could be a special teams/coaching issue.

Bullock is not as bad as people make him out to be.

It's not like Boswell was all that great last year. He struggled from the same distances Randy did.

Bullock was 13/22 from 40+ (59%), Boswell was 8/15 (53%). Sorry if I'm not getting excited over that.

He'll get NFL training to correct his form.

Plus he's good at onsides kicks

Sure worked for Bullock, who was better than Boswell in college.

Sebastian Janikowski was pretty awful his first year too, give him another chance. If hes misses as many field goals this year as late night carbs he ingests, then let him go.

Without the mental aspect coming into play, it's harder to kick in college than it is in the pros.

If Boswell has a strong mental makeup, then he can be solid.

Bullock will be the kicker, he got set up for failure last year with a lot of long, high pressure kicks to start the year that really threw him off but he eventually managed to rebound and he finished the season well. I think he'll be fine.

Someone else, or you, tried to give me this argument earlier. In other words, "hey bro, aside from the games Randy sucked in, he was good. Take away those bad plays and what do you have? You have a good kicker!"

    Cahhhhhhmoonnnnnnnnnnn, bro.

Something like 5 of his first 6 FGA's for his career were over 45 yards and something like 3 of them were in potential game winning situations.

Kicking stats aren't very good so I'm having to go off of memory for the most part, but that's a ton of pressure to put on a rookie. He finished the season really well and I expect a better season from him this year.

All rookies need time to adjust, kickers are no different. Once Bullock got in the right mindset and got settled in the position he started nailing everything.

I was on the Bullock hate train. I drafted him as my kicker in my work fantasy league. I dropped him after a -2 point performance and lost me the game in week two. After week 8 he came around and got his head straight.

Bullock also got much better as the season went on.

    First 8 games: 13/21 (7/15 from 40+)
    Last 8 games: 13/14 (6/7 from 40+)

A kicker that can only kick when there's no pressure. No, thank you. They should have cut him 2 games into last season.

Do you just completely ignore that it was his rookie season? Pressuring a rookie is different than pressuring a vet, if he continues to have that problem going forward, that's one thing, but cut the kid some slack. He was put in about the worst situation possible, no line to give him time to kick, constantly kicking from 45+ yards often for the win as his first kicks as a pro.....it's hard to think of a worse situation for a rookie kicker.
