If we sign Mike James, he is going to want to start, and probably deserves it. We have Alston who is a good "pass first" PG. In other words can't hit the broad side of the Toyota Center. Do you think that these guys can and will be able to play together? Either splitting minuets or changing for different offensive schemes?

What is Sura's condition? If he plays do we need Mike James? What about Spanoulis? What about Head, I know that is a strech....

It's really not anywhere near a lock that we sign MJ anyway, to be honest.

If we do sign him, there's probably a decent chance that Rafer gets traded anyway.

I think Mike James will utilmately sign elsewhere with a better contract than what we can offer. Spanoulis? You think we will play a rookie PG? And most importantly use part of the MLE to sign him.

I think they will pursue Bobby jackson. He can play some defense. He can hit outside shots. He's old. He's injury-prone. So bacially he fits in really well with our "system".

    We need a PF first.
Alston and Sura will be enough.

    lol.

i'm not sure where else MJ will sign for a better contract. there are only 5 teams under the cap this summer and none of them will spend more than MLE money on him anyway. Our offer is as good as anyone's will be.

on top of that he lives here and we're a winning team (or will be).

B.Jax is a good idea. he can probably be had for less than MLE money considering his age and history of injury.

No, no it wouldn't. If Sura retires, he'll still be on the payroll through next season. And regardless, we'll still be over the cap with Yao's extension kicking in...

jvg want 3 PG ...even if we sign James, we need another one, cos i think sura is done ... and John Lucas III is on our summer league roster, maybe he'll stick with the team ...
btw if we dont get MJ, i hope we'll take a look at Jay Williams ...

Then spend the MLE or part of it on VSPAN, trade Sura and a future first (should be crappy) for a PF and use the remainder of the MLE if there is any on another solid role player.

i dont like to trade future first round picks ... you never know if you will avoid the lottery ... and even a late first round pick could bring a good player, especially next year with oden/durant/noah and co.

After our draft I don't think we'll get Mike James now either... we'll probably sign some old run down player to a 3 year deal. Why would we get James now? That'd be too smart.

Just minutes before the draft my room mates were like "you know the Rockets are gonna find some way to screw it up." Sure enough...

Needless to say, my enthusiasm for the offseason has taken a sharp dive. I don't have much confidence in this teams management.

Personally, I would prefer B Jackson to MJames. MJ has to dominate the ball (similar to SF) to be effective. That is not what I want in a pg. The only players I want consistantly trying to take his man one on one are TMac and Yao. MJ considers himself more of a first or second type option (from my viewpoint).

Mike James would not be good in our starting lineup i don't believe. Off the bench, he's perfect. Unless he can prove to look for his shot within the games of Yao and McGrady.

I just don't think James is interested in the money we can offer, but I guess we'll see.
