With the way things are going now, I hope we can keep this chemistry going for the next few years....
I think the only FAs we have this year (that matter) are Deke and Barry. I would love to resign those guys for a 1-year vet min. deal. They both seem like they would want to stay. Deke could possibly retire though.
I think Deke likes to hang around Yao and Ewing ... and go to Yao's restaurant. I think he will stay for 1 more year.
I don't think we've had such great chemistry since our championship years. Just need to find that replacement PF for JHo from now until the season is over. Hopefully this winning momentum makes us dominating throughout the playoffs.
deke has one or two more years left in him, barry has 2 or 3. i am pretty sure that both will be resigned and padgett's option will be picked up. i think bowen has a team option aswell. baker and spoon need to be traded in a S&T deal for a PF, then we will get our ring.
It's easy to keep Deke. He has a team option for $4 million. Since we're not even close to being under the cap, and $4 mill is pretty decent for a quality backup center, I think it's a slam dunk. And a bonus effect is that he would be yet another expiring contract as ammunition for a possible trade. Obviously I'd dump Moochie, Spoon, and Baker before I'd include Deke expiring contract, but it's nice to have the flexibility in case something huge comes down the pipe.
Deke is on record as saying that Kareem's 2nd place shotblocking record is still attainable. Deke would need about 160 blocks to pass Kareem. Unless Deke plans on averaging 8 blocks per game for the remainder of the season, then I think he may need another season.
