Not saying they are gonna win it but I say yes. Not buying into the you need to make it there and lose before you can win it.

Now a days all it takes is lack of injuries and just making the playoffs with momentum to get to the Super Bowl ala 2008 Giants.

Can the Texans do it? Yes.

I voted No. Yes, every year it seems like someone surprises a bit - Cardinals, Seahawks, etc.

But generally, the cream rises to the top. Can the Texans do it? Sure, but aside from Tom Jackson going way out on a limb, it would be a surprise to basically every other unbiased observer of the game. And strong week 1 though it was, I don't think we can change that tune yet.

I would also answer No to this question for the Rockets. Would i be shocked if the Rockets made the NBA Finals? No. But I would be surprised. Because there is at least 1 dominant team ahead of them and a number of playoff contenders equally or more likely to make it further in the playoffs then them.

I'm a huge fan of both teams, so optimistic. But, baby steps.

To soon to tell, lots of good teams in the AFC but they've got a shot.

I would like to say yes, but let's be realistic here. The Texans have to prove that they can be consistent. Can the Texans continue running the ball effectively, stay physical, dominate at the point of attack and stay healthy? If yes then absolutely the Texans can be real contenders. It's much too early to crown this team, but they're off to a good start.

As of right now, there's no reason to NOT include them on the list of contenders, but it's way too soon to tell. Let them string together several good performances in a row, and I'd be more inclined to believe.

    Yes they can be.

But some things have to improve obviously. The secondary can't rely on dropped balls to get it done and the blitzing packages need to improve.

For example, it seemed like the Colts were picking up Demeco's blitzes pretty easily.

I vote yes and I am never one to get all homer on that ass. But they still have a lot to show me. It's not so much I think the Texans are all that great, it has more to do with the NFL's outlook as a whole.

I think we're getting a little over our heads here.

The Arizona Cardinals were knocking on the door to a championship. It's not unheard of in this day and age.

The 2007 Giants won the Super Bowl. The Texans are as good as they were.

If the New York Jets are considered title contenders than surely we have the same right to be.

    We have the star power,

Brian Cushing, Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub, Demeco Ryans, Owen Daniels.

All top 5/10 players at their position.

We've had consistency at the head coaching position for 5+ years now, everyone knows the system.

Our only weaknesses are in the defense, which has been bolstered with the addition of Bernard Pollard. Once Cushing gets back we will see our full potential.

Yes we could realistically win a championship this year.

If we win 11-12 games this year we will be the most ready playoff team. You don't win that many games with the hardest schedule in the league without being good.

Mario Williams? Also Eric Winston and Pollard are certainly top 10 at their position.

If you want to include Special teams Turk and Jacoby Jones

Yea, but who thought they were a Super Bowl contender one game into the season? I'm a Texan homer as much as the next guy, but let's at least make the playoffs for the first time EVER before thrusting the team into elite status.

Too early to call. But the Saints were a fluke last season....until it was clear that they were really just that good. It could happen.

Very much agreed. It was a nice win but Super Bowl contender? Lets talk at the mid point of the season.

    It's the NFL.

Everybody is a Super Bowl contender this early in the year.

    Except maybe 3-4 teams.
