I was kind pleased when we could get butler or Iggy. If we get miller and salmon I am still ok, but if we get hill + draft picks, it is time to just blow it all up.

If we are building to the future, Yao is going to get older and he already has bad legs, and we all know how big men start to deteriorate rapidly after 30.

A Yao + brooks being our second player seems like a mediocre team. Not bad enough to get a good pick and not good enough to get anywhere.

I think morey needs to pick a plan. This reloading and not rebuilding plan just prolongs the suffering of fans.

I'm glad you made this thread. No one in any of the other threads are discussing whether these deals are good or not for either short term/long term. That you compared them to the Astros made this thread particularly original.

You have some nerve comparing that travesty of a franchise to Our Rockets.

This Franchise thinks ahead instead of thinking about how to sell tickets.

There is a reason why we sold more season tickets this year compared to last season. People trust this organization to do the RIGHT thing not the COOL thing.

What the hell are we going to do with Butler and Haywood? make it past the first round for what?

Patience is a virtue and Our GM has it, thank God.

If you don't have patience go to fakerland.

We never had a chance at Iggy b/c Philly is not trading him.
Butler, we did have a chance, but we never were really interested.

    So your point is?

This trade deadline has turned some quality posters into making head scratching posts.

The Rockets and Astros aren't even close to being anywhere near the same.

Big men like Hakeem, Shaq, Kareem, Duncan, Big Z, Kevin Willis, Mutombo sure all deterioriated rapidly after 30.

If the Rockets were the Astros they would have traded Brooks and Landry for Vince Carter by now

Good Point OP. I think the NY deal is more of a rebuilding deal, while the Chicago deal gives some short term talent. I think Salmons fills a need (SG)more than Jefferies and Hill.

The Astros are a travesty ?

You can't even make a comparision to success in the last decade. The Astros flat out win hands down compared to the Rockets.

The Rockets never even sniffed a finals appearance

Not to mention winning in baseball is a hell of alot harder with teams like the Yankees and Red Sox dishing out 200 million on a roster

You think Morey is scuffing the ball? Or are you suggesting we need to switch sponsorship from Toyota to Minute Maid? Actually, I think the Meineke Center would be more appropriate.

    Success?

Lastros got swept in the World series. They trade young talent for old stars and disintegrate into nothing in 4 years.

2 years of "success for 5 years of failure.

but I digress. The Rockets are known throughout the NBA for being very well run front a front office to the marketing dept.

Sorry, but this post just makes me laugh. The Astros use to be good when we had Hunsiker as GM to compensate for our total POS owner Drayton. Hunsiker understood the importance of a strong farm system and making smart signs. Ever since Hunsiker left us, we have been utter crap and are farm system completely depleted of any promising young talent which we ironically traded away for broken down former stars. Rockets has won 2 championships, when was the last time the Stros won a World Series? It took a rotation of Oswalt, Clemens, Petite, and Backe to just get us there and we ended up being shut down and swept. Rockets has a long way to go before getting anywhere to the mess that the Astros currently are.
