Jonathan_Feigen Jonathan Feigen Dalembert still not practicing. Was told no issues w physical, deal; will be available Monday. Still, sat out all 3 practices since in town. 6 hours ago clutchfans ClutchFans.net Morey says on 610 the expected bigs rotation: Dalembert, Scola, PPatt, Hill. Feels Thabeet, limited by conditioning, may give them 5-10mins. 23 Dec I find it a little odd that there has been no news of Lin being waived. It could simply be that McHale wants 15 bodies at practice until Dalembert is available. The Kings have 14 guaranteed contracts. They do not have a true center or 7 footer behind Cousins with Hayes, Thompson, and Hickson. A better situation there for all parties. The minimum NBA payroll for 2011-12 is about $49 million. The Kings payroll is about 37,666,162 (including Outlaw) + 2,308,320 (Jimmer, 120% of rookie scale) + Marcus Thornton ($40M over 5 yrs, assume 7.5% annual raises) + Chuck Hayes ($22.4M over 4yrs, assume 4.5% annual raises) + 473,604 (Tyler Honeycutt 35th pick, assume min.) + 473,604 (Thomas 60th pick, assume min.) = 40 921 690 +Thornton + Hayes Are newly signed contracts pro-rated for a 66 game season? This could mean a lesser total payroll.
All salaries are prorated this season, but (I think) so are the cap floor and ceiling. All salaries will likely be referred to on an 82-game basis (for simplicity's sake), but the actual paychecks should be prorated. For instance, I assume that Dalembert will only receive about $5.63M of his "$7M" salary this season.
They claimed Lin off of waivers so don't know if they want to just get rid of him. They also have Adrien taking the last roster spot. Possibly a small trade coming up is what I was thinking too.
The kings need to take on salary and also need depth at point guard. Jonny or Goran would help solve both of those issues. Goran is starting pg in this league. I think it would be a smarter move now to get something in return for him now vs. getting nothing when he walks for a starting gig when he is a free agent.
Goron is good, but starting pg? That's a stretch. He's a great secondary option. I don't think he has the maturity or the vision to really direct and lead a team. Heck, we have been running hin more like a combo guard than as a pure point.
He does have his short comings but if Nick Collison, Jared Jack and Jose Calderon can all Start at the point in the NBA I don't see why Goran can't.
I think you mean Darren Collison and jarett Jack... and all three of those PGs u mentioned play on ****ty teams.
The Kings have Jimmer, Tyreke, and Thomas at PG. If the Kings need a guy to cover as 3rd PG and/or SG I guess the Rockets could send Lin. In a way that could make the most sense.
Nick Collison definitely can't start at PG; guy plays PF/C. His brother from another mother, Darren Collison is pretty much the definition of league average PG. A better comparison for Dragic is how the Lakers used Shannon Brown the past few years; let him come in and cause havoc for 20 minutes a game and put up with some toilet clog offensive sets in exchange for a few ridiculous momentum shifting plays per game. Seeing what Shannon Brown got from Phoenix this year (1yr, $3.5M), makes me hopeful that the Rockets might be able to retain him for a reasonable price, however, I agree that it seems unlikely that the Rockets would sign him considering their talent in mining backup PGs from undrafted FAs.
⇈ What I meant by this was that Lin would act like a "free" second round pick. The pick teams usually need to include for the league to approve a trade using a TE.
